Well I finally got a start on the 200x project. I figured there is no sense in having it sit around so I might as well make the parts I do have look nice. I have the rear end parts ready to get sandblasted and painted so it might be a roller by the end of the week:w00t: . I also pulled out the lower end so I should have that done by the end of the week too.
I will admit that I am not sure if I even want to finish the project already. It is turning out nice but I picked up an YTM200 suspension kit from Freakfix last week and I am thinking about spending the project money on that instead. I just don’t have the money for 2 projects and I defiantly don’t have the space.
Anyways, here is the most important part, pictures!:pics:

I'd rather the suspension 200 Yamaha though, I have a soft spot for them, first trike I had and what I learned to ride on.
Put the suspension on it and throw some nice 22's on it instead of the 25's.

I would like to see the 200X finished, I really like the way your going with it!.
But I also admit a suspension 200 would be awesome :).
I would do the 200X and save the 200 for later on but thats me.

I personally think that would sick with the baby blue plastics, lke the one on the Dirtwheels 200x. If you need any parts, or think of sellin that number plate and front fender, im right here  I think you should do it..

the x is off to a sick start. I'm lovin the front fender is that off a 250R?. Also what's that on your rear shock? a cover?. Keep up the sweet work.

I want to build up the Yami just because a full suspension tri-moto is different.
The number plate is actually for a dirt bike, I had to trim the bottom but it still looks good. The front fender is from a 250R, the rear fender that I will be using is from a 250R too. I found the fenders at a salvage yard and thought they would look cool, I just have to figure out how to mount up the seat. The rear shock didn't look all that great so I went with a shock cover, not the right shade blue but I already had it.

Wouldn’t it figure, out of the 3 axles I bought the only one that is not bent has the left hub welded on.:(
You might be able to twist my rubber arm into selling me the X project if worst comes to worst....;)

Now that is some custom work. I bet it will fly once you get it going though.
Stick with the X,Hold onto the rear suspension kit for later.
Do you have any other progress pics?

Well I got the engine apart, first time I have found leaves in a lower end! The trans. looks ok but I have to swap out the output shaft. I also got the rear axle and foot pegs blasted so I should be able to paint them up tomorrow.
What color should I paint the foot pegs? White or black?
Dammit!

Black. White looks like pure crap as soon as it starts getting dinged up and the pegs have no protection.

I second that.

Good, the black paint is drying now.:D
I did hit a snag tonight, the output shaft that I have is wron out where the sprocket attaches and the one that I have to replace it turns out is not from a 200x:( . So it might become an autoX until I get a good X engine. I have a complete 200m engine (turns over) and have a friend that has a 200s engine that runs but smokes so those are both options. Maybe I can find a CRF230 to put in, that would be sweet (but too much $$$ I am sure).

OK, the rear end parts are ready to be installed. I will wait to put them in though because there is only enough room in the shed for 1 complete trike (the 200E) and after that the trikes sit covered under the deck.
Anybody happen to know what size the foot peg bolts are? I doubt I have any that would fit and I can't bring the frame into the hardware store to match it up.
lol man my camera is not that good, I guess I should stick to using my Dad's that I used for the first pictures.

Small update on the project. It turns out that taking a 3 week long motorcycle trip not only takes away wrenching time but it also drains ALL spending money so I have not been able to get any more parts. But anyways it is a roller! The rims are beat up so they will be replaced when I replace the tires (hopefully in the spring) but for now they will do. I also have the lower end all painted up and once I get a gasket kit it will be back together. The rear fenders mounted up easy but the seat is another story. I think I will try to use the X front seet pan and the R rear pan, but I already sold the R seat so that will have to wait.
Oh, the tank is not the one I will be using but is on there for the picture.

that blue and white color scheme looks like (and I hate to say it) a Tiger - which is really cool. You should put a red seat cover on it to finish off that look -IMO.

Your trike kinda reminds me of this one. Although I think the white frame your going with is much better.

Looks good so far.. I can't wait to see it all finished up.

Yeah dude that is exactly what I was thinking even before I read your post. I like the looks and colors.

Just a small update on the project. I have the lower end lightly assembled, it will come apart to replace the output shaft and seals but I wanted to make sure I didn't need anything else. I was going to put together the top end too but it turns out I still need a cylinder, kind of an important piece. I thought I had a spare 200s one that I could use but I can't find it. I am still thinking of going with a stock setup on this motor then building up another motor when the trike is completed. I figure 200x motors still sell for enough money that I can get out the money I spend on freshening up this one once I get the performance motor built.
I am still thinking about the Tiger look, it is tempting to do. What else should I do to make it look more like a Tiger? I will have some time to decide since the seat will probably be one of the last things done.
Well, now that I am back at college there won’t be any big updates until ohh, Christmas break, yeah you thought I was a slow builder over the summer.

At least you're making progress. My projects are at a standstill other than picking up an occasional part I need when I can spare a few bucks. I picked up a new/used front fender for my 200x last night and was all giddy about it because it's the first thing I've gotten for it in a while.
I'd stick with the black seat and throw some black tank shrouds on there by the way.

I hear ya Dammit. I have been very slowly gathering parts for it. I have just been wanting to get it together for so long I am getting the pieces ready that I do have. The sad thing is not that I have a roller there isn't enough room to keep it inside:cry: . I only have enough inside storage for one trike so this one is sitting fully covered under the deck:( .

Nice progress there, fox. I really like the blue plastics. Did you paint them, or buy them that way?

They are old-school Maier fenders for a 85-86 250R. Gota love the salvige yard finds!
