It will depend on how much tire pressure you run in your tires, I have run 10 psi in my 250es and was in about 4 of water and was sort of bobbing up and down alittle and was very tricky on keeping it upright.

i got a video of a guy riding a wheelie intoa lake on a 85 tecate, we have it on video floating to the middle of the lake upside down before doggy paddling it back to shore.

if i ever finish this 3wheeler dvd, it will be in it.

I have floated my big red many many times without issues. I have just had to bounce on the rear end to hit the bottom to get moving yet again. Waders are a good thing to have when you are this deep hehe.

I took my 200e in a mud hole and once I lost ground it floated and I'm about 225 and the trike is about 350 unfortunately after a couple of seconds it died and I had to jump off and pull it out.

I used to swim my 83BR across rivers and my buddy would swim his 200m. they will bob around if you stay on the seat..we would hop off and push them while swimming with no problems. I think with around 2psi in the tires.

I hear ya on the bouncing, I went into a hole at the Bandlands with my old tri-z and it didn't go to the bottom like my quad would. Mud everywhere.................lol

My 200x would have went swimming last weekend if it had not hit that sagebrush and flipped over.

listen since your asking about a ytm... my 225 would do fine in a lake we would stand on the footpegs and lean forward and just stand on the gas until i made it onto the sand bar....then ride wheelies on the bar it was great...

Where I live I register my trike with the town and ride on the streets. During the summer I ride my trike to work, down to the lake, to the Town hall, etc... I take main street with no prob. During the winter I ride out on the lake to go ice fishing and to pop some donuts on the ice. This summer I was thinking of putting duallys on my '81 185 with maybe the outside set as paddles and trying it out on the lake.
That would be sooo cool if it would work. I'll have to see if I could come up with a one-way valve for my exhaust. By the way, I run 25x12-9.

HAHA, then just the other day there was a guy out on the ice on his motorcycle. He had skis coming off both sides of his bike to keep from slipping. Appeared to work really well. On that note, has anyone ever thought of putting a ski in place of thier front tire, either on the snow or on the sand? i saw some advertized not too long ago for some sports model 4 wheelers. That would look soo rad at the dunes.

200xs do not like to float. I drove into a pond that i used to play in with my 4x4 and the x just tipped on its side. I drained the carb, changed oil and everything and it started back up fine. 110s on the other hand do float. When ever they start to tip you can jump off and guide them to shore. I wish my 110 was running now.

I was going to make a comment about this beeing a canidate for one of the oldest revived threads, but I watched the video and decided it was well worth it. Pretty funny - what time of year is that from?.

About the ski on the front. Any of the track systems bolt to the rear hubs on an R. Then mount a ski on the front. I figures that would be a wild ride.

I think they float better without the rider. too top heavy

Back in the day when I was 10 years old and 150 pounds lighter. Quiet!! I used to float my dads 1982 200. We would pump up the tires and the thing would float but, I had to put my but on the gas tank to keep it from sinking in the back. (the nobby tires rotation would pull it down)

Ohh the memories:)

YES they do fload. upside down.

Dirt Wheels or 3 and 4 wheel action did an article on this topic around 1985. they ran an LT230E, a 200X and a KLT160 into a swimming pool and found that they all float

upside down

i just took the 70 for a swim in the pool, it floats upright ,, unassisted the whole motor would be under water so i did not let go of it ,, otherwise i would have taken a pict of it in the water,,,,,,,,
