I have seen that done before. Racers been doing that for years. It does work from what info I have seen.

i don't want to sound like a dick, but how much oil do you really think gets through those holes?

Thats pretty neat, never thought of that before honestly. I bet it does work though. I'll have to give it a whirl on the next topend I do (Hopefully it isnt soon )

Me and my friends always drill holes on the piston along the exhaust bridge, then notch the bridge to reduce heat. That is the most common place for piston and ring failure due to heat. I have one piston that has 7 years on it. It has no compression left, but it definitely has lasted a long time.

Any special measurements you would have to make to drill those holes, or do you just put them anywhere?

When I put my piston on today the piece of paper in the Wiseco box recommended those very things.

I've never seen them on the sides of the piston before, but have been doing that for years down the middle of front side (3 holes just below the bottom ring). But don't do it unless the cylinder has an exhaust bridge or you'll just be burning additional oil.

On the "Yami's" (TRI-Z,Blaster,Banshee) i drill holes on the Exhaust (HOT) Side .8 down and in-line between the Transfer Port and the Exhaust Port with a #51 Drill , then i "champer" the hole with a bigger drill to knock the Burr off so it doesn't scuff the Cyl. Wall's .... on the other Hand the Honda Motor's you can't do that because the Exhaust window goes past the Transfer port ... the Holes on the "Bridged" Honda's are in the Middle of the Exhaust like ChrisD Said along with the bridge ground off .003 for swelling purposes..................OH YEAH............
That THING in the Back ground is a BUSA Head i'm Working On .....
GIT IT RAGGGGGGGGGGGG

ca-busa?? and if you drill a 1/4 hole, even more oil passes through, even more protection!
