Installing Barkbusters

After I removed the bar ends (200X), there's this plug that the bolt screws into. Both of them are all rusty and I can't tell if they're part of the handlebars, or if they're removable. I need to either chop off the bar ends(don't want to go that route), or get them out. Anyone run into this?

They are not removable without cutting off the ends of the bars. I just went through this when I bought new grips with endcaps for my trike. I ended up using the old (stock) endcaps instead of the new ones that came with my grips.

Man, I just bought these 60.00 barkbusters, too. I think the bars'll be way too short if I cut them, crap.

Well, one option would be to pick up a new set of aftermarket handlebars. Most have the open ends and can be bought fairly cheap.
