I finally split the cases on the spare 350x motor i have. It doesnt seem too complicated so far.

Everything is out of the cases, except the bearings.

All off the bearing seem great, no slop, no noise, no nothing. Should i replace them anyways while the cases are split? How much would all new bearings and seals in the bottom end go for?

The cases are in great shape. I am going to get them bead blasted and then painted. Should the insides be painted also? There seems to be some hairline splits in the paint, but they arent cracks that go all the way through to the other side.

My crankcase breather tube is straight out of the crankcase, its supposed to be bent...how the hell can i change this out?

I noticed metal shavings in the bottom end which seems to have come from one of the flat bearings from the clutch. I dont think its from any other bearings.

Basicalyl, now that the cases are apart, what should i do while its open before i get the cases painted and then put it all back together?

Besides from 2 mystery washers one screw (looks like it belongs to oil pump, it was sitting in the bottom end, may have been dropped, also there was a little hook in there, have no idea what that is) i should be ok.

Thansk,
Mike

I would definitely replace all the bearings and seals while it's apart. They're most likely 20 years old.

you should be able to change the vent tube by twisting it and pulling with vise grips. you'll probably have to change the clutch arm over also sounds like youre changing from 85 to 86 or vise versa

I would go a head a replace them. I am going to replace mine when I redo mine. I figure that since I have it apart I may as well.

I would not paint the inside.

Make sure the cracks are checked after the paint is removed.
