First of I want to rebuild my front forks, problem is I really don't know what I need to buy for the internals. My local Kwai shop said its just 1 seal per side but I find that hard to believe. Also I heard in my other thread that you could use washers to adjust your preload on the forks, if so how many and what kind? So could someone tell me what I need to buy, I plan on using bikebandit.com for the parts so numbers would be appreciated. The next thing I am thinking about is what is better, Raptor rear shock or rebuilt factory? A Raptor shock is gonna set me back about 100 bucks and a rebuilt one is about $150 after core. So anyone have any input on this?

P.S. Sorry for starting a new thread my last one died and I need some answers.

A rebuilt stocker will work just as well as a new Raptor unit. The front forks you can buy fork seal kits for that will give you everything you need.

Do the make Progressive Springs for the Front Forks? I just installed my 01 Raptor shock. Had to drill the upper frame mount and added some spacres to take up the slack. The darn Bottle is strapped to my Rear Swingarm. we shall see. I could of sent it to Elka and for $250 they totally redo it and add the longer Hose for the Bottle. I will do that someday I guess. The Raptor shock feels real nice though. Like I can get mad air if my Front forks were set up right.

I have the progressive springs in my forks and they are super nice. I get some pretty good air with them and havent bottomed yet. Really nice for trail riding as well.

Ok, so I should have no problem either way. How about longevity? Are they about equal? The local Kawi shop said $11 ea. for the seals, is this the whole thing or just the top seals?

i do not know for sure but i would keep the original!! anyway can your kawi shop rebuild it ? or get you new seals? if so how much ,and how much to charge it with nitrgen ------ fork seals are cheep from denis kirk or some mail order companies
use bike bandit for fiche flush forks with kerosene put in new seals add new oil and ride!! the thicker the oil the plusher it will be

I actually found a guy that will send me a rebuilt one for $200 and give me $50 back when he gets mine as a core. If I order from dennis kirk will it be all I need to rebuild them both? What about the fork oil, is this motor oil or special fork oil? Thanks guys, I really appreciate this.

You need a manual. The kit from DennisKirk will be all you need.
Fork oil 270 ml per side and 10W 30 or 40. 40 weight will give a stiffer ride.

Thank you Big Green, I actually do have a manual for my machine so thats taken care of, and I can get that kind of oil. Would 5w40 Mobil 1 synthetic be better or should I just try diffrent types and wieghts? Oh and some one mentioned using washers to preload the front springs, any info on that setup?

You need PVC pipe that can be had at the hardware store. Believe its the 1 inch stuff. Different lengths will preload and stiffen the suspension different amounts.
I'd start with 10w30 and werk your way up to the heavier stuff if needed.

Oh so you just put chunks of pipe in there? Like a 1/2" or like a 1" length pipe? I am broke at the moment but I want to get this thing ready asap.
