while driving my truck making deliveries,I happened to back up to an old rickety dock at a farm to make a delivery of some farming equipment.ahead of me was an old barn ready to collapse that had a tractor in it,some other farm machinery in it,and what looked to be a square motorcycle headlight peeking out from behind the tractor fender.

After waiting to get unloaded,I started wandering around the place.my curiosity was focused on that headlight in the barn. when I got there I felt a hot rush of excitement come over my body, then a sad feeling.but then I knew I had to have it!

I got to looking at it and it was an 86 250R with blue rear tires,in near perfect yet dusty condition.I rolled the motor over with my hand,it wasn't stuck! oh man was I excited now! I rushed out of the barn, after taking this picture of course to go see the farmer.

I asked him how much he wanted for it...he said "I think I want to hang on to it for a while,I like that 3 wheeler". my heart sank (yeah I liked it too!). I offered all kinds of money, yet he wouldn't turn loose of it.now, it will never ever be ridden again ,I'm sure of that, not by him anyway.so it will just sit there and rust away.I am going to keep trying to get it,I'm gonna bug the crap outta him until he says get it outta here! all I can say is wish me luck![/B]

Ask him, "if you like it so much then why dont you give it a F***ing bath"! Or how about this, "if you like it so much, when was the last time you rode it?" 1988??? People do strange things, Hang on to stuff for no reason, perhaps you could find a BigRed in equal condition and trade him, The pitch "here's something you could actually use around the farm other than that one in the barn. eventaully the barn will fall on it, busting the OEM fenders that have otherwise been protected all these years with the heavy layers of dust and the blockage of sunlight, Its value will then decline even more and then after the weather starts to beat down, it will wither away into a memory. Damn I can rant. Anger to sadness in stroke of a key...

Now that is what I call a "Barn Find" that will probably clean up really nice! Keep after him until he is sick and tired of you asking him all the time. Good luck.:beer

Maybe we could start a section specifically for rotters, kind of like Cars in Barns. (http://carsinbarns.com) I've submitted quite a few pics to that site. Call me crazy, but there is something just cool about a car (or trike) in the rough.

i would go to the guy and tell him straight up that he cant ride it cause hes old and decrepit and that you will take care of it and clean it up and use it the way it was meant to be used. then ask him how much$ for it. dont pussyfoot around, tell him straight up there is no way he could ride it.

I'll be going back there again today.gonna ask again, see what he says this time.this time I'm bringing cash with me.I figure this, saying I'll give you X amount of money is one thing, dropping the cash on a table in front of him is another.I'll see what happens.that 250R has a new home,it just doesn't know it yet and neither does he! LOL!!!
