I've just bought a couple of atc 70's, 1981 and 1985. I'd like to add some suspension forks to the front, but am not sure where to start. I've been looking an some off a ct70, would these fit right on? otherwise i was considering some off a modern mini bike or somehting, but it brings up the issue of the width of the front wheel, whats the minimum this should stay at for good stability? Alo, i've been looking at z50 stuff, would these forks be compatable, also would the carb fit?

Good luck with your project, I would look for something that you can use the front wheel from the ATC. There was some aftermarket stuff in the 80s that made up triple clamps and used XR75 or XR80 Forks. Here is a link to a forum about 70's and some of the guys are curently working on making up triple clamps. Also there is really cool pics of some 70's. http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index.php?showforum=50 I am sure vealmonkey is going to chime in here soon he has a couple of suspended 70s. Here is a pic of the one I just got with front suspension from A+ inc. Keep us posted on how you make out.

i've been looking over the two trikes i'm doing up, and i dont think its worth the effort putting supsension on, or the expense. I'm gonna rapaint the old forks, fuel tanks etc, recover the seats and maybe add some stickers, here are the befores, i'll post in a couple of weeks with the after. It wont be a pro job, as i have neither the money or the skills, but they should look good. Got them £200 the pair, they will be sold when when i'm done i think, if i dont get to attatched.

If you are gonna do those on a budget,I would combine the 2 machines to make a complete 70! I don't know how farmilar you are with the 70's,but look at the frames and forks to see that they are not bent !! Look at the frt fender and see if it rub's and under the tank at the tube on the frame!! I would hate to see you fix up a machine with a bent frame or forks!! It is common on those trikes!!

The engine rubs slightly on the second one, on the front fender. I have been told its an engine from a ct 90, but it rides well enough. i'll strip them a bit and take a closer look though. As i said its just going to be so they both work well, and look ok cosmetically.

This might help. When I was younger my brother bent the forks on a 110 and we swapped a ct 70 front end right over. no problems at all. It looked funny but we were still riding.
