take it to a shop uness you like to bleed, those things hurt, I have scars on both hands from them "exploding" during the last inch or 2 of installation, 30 bucks is far cheaper then 15 stitches in your thumb and 30 bucks to rewind when you can't do it at all.

i wish the local community college offered a recoil 101 class when I started this 3wheeled addiction that I have, yeah, I almost lost a tooth once when the spring blew up on me.

there is a good article on rebuilding a pullstart at 3wheeler.org I'll try to find it real quick.

the pictures don't work for me anymore, but the instructions are still there.

basicly, put 2 small nails about a half inch apart on a board. The hook on the inside of you recoil spring will catch onto on of the nails. It helps if you cut off the heads of the nails first, so they don't get in the way when you try to take the spring off. Before you start winding it, find some tie-wire and make a circle with it that is small enough to fit in the spot where your recoil spring needs to be placed. After winding the spring down, put the wire around it, to hold it in place. Carefully pick up the spring, and try to keep your hand on top and bottom to keep the spring from popping up or down. Then put the spring in the part of your starter that it needs to be. Hold the spring down and remove the wire from around it.

I have had to do this 3-4 times at least with my 2 110's. Sometimes i get it on the first try, sometime it takes about 1000 tries.lol. good luck.

I just did this on my TriZinger and it sucks. It took me about an hour and a half (yes- no kidding). That little spring whooped my butt. Good link, Murph.

i did this to my tri mot225 2 times, and once on a 185s. The 185s was easy but the 225 was a pain in the hands. cause the lip that holds it in place broke off, so i had to bend a new one and put it back in took me 5 bandaids a hand full of fast orange, torche, vice grips, flat head, and a ciggerette well maybe 3.

You guys are too kind!! I was just trying to show a few more user / people how to do it the TRUE easy way. I really need to get this on video and post it. It's hard to explain / descride it in words ( video would be a real good thing ). Any how, I have tried to do explain it via words a couple years ago.
