These are some of the items I'll be upgrading my 85 SX with soon. The Blaster shock is absolutely mint and I paid 35$, the swingarm was courtesy of HOWDY awhile back - I think it was like 7 0r 11$ and I can mess with different mounting angles for the shock, the carb is a 350X with a larger throttle valve - hopefully I can swap stock SX jets and increase the main jet to match the greater flow from the Cobra pipe which I got for 60$ on a message board. Best part is the SX motors run forever; I still need to find a 350X front end though.

That's cool, let us know how everything turns out. I bet that SX will move pretty well now after those mods.

While your at it you can't forget the piston in my sig. www.powroll.com Its under Honda garage sale. I haven't raced anyone since I put it in (still offically in break-in) put everyone including myself says there's a nice power increase. In fact when I first started riding it after I put it in I thought it wasn't shifting into 5th but I was already there! I had to consciously count the gears like 3 times to reassure myself.

Yeah your right! I had forgot about your post on that deal. Only thing though, I thought you said it was for .050 over stock?? Thats a couple bore sizes away from where I want to be. But it is quite inexpensive.
Did it come with all the rings and or a wristpin

Thanks

Update: I raced my friend on his '85 SX stock except for a Cobra pipe and Uni air filter, stock jetting also. I took him off the line and kept pulling away till I was done with 4th I was at least 50 ft ahead. (I suck at estimating distance. I'll let you know what hes says it was.) Then I eased off because I didn't have anymore to prove LOL.

Before my rebuild and piston and before his rebuild we were like exactly equal. He got the Cobra pipe since then and I got the piston. I don't think this makes much of a difference but I got the Vesrah top end kit ($$$$) and he got the Cometic (cheap). Only reason I got the Vesrah is because it had valve seals and other stuff, because I was planning on using a head
that was sitting out for many years.

The piston is 2mm over stock and bores into stock sleeve and require no other stuff or special head gaskets. It raises the compression from stock 9.0 to 10.5. It includes piston, rings, and wrist pin, but no circlips (uses stock clips). I bought new clips to be safe (Well that and my friend lost one of them.) They were $1.00 each of OEM Honda style. The piston costs $25+S&H

BTW: We were both running pump 87. I know I shouldn't be running that, esp. with a high compression piston, but I'm poor. I haven't noticed any pinging or any sounds that weren't present before so I'm not realy concerned.

2 mm is about .080. only a bit over 1/16 of an inch diameter. This means it's high compression??? That doesn't seem right to me, who told you that? Anyhow that is a sweet deal for a piston, like I said I hate to bore out .080 when .010 would probably clean it up just fine. I can't imagine you'd need high octane - if the compresiion went up that much the starter could barely turn it over! or you'd have trouble kicking it over.
Thanks for the input as any fellow SX'r is welcome ;)

The bore doesn't make it high compression. The fact that it's a performance piston with a bigger dome than stock does. My starter doesn't work, heh heh, wish it did though. Also SX's have an automatic compression release.
