Hang on I got one..... I almost forgot about it.

I was putting along a track out the back of the Lancilin dunes in WA a few years ago. I had taken my wife out for her first trike ride, she was on my ATC250ES and I was on my 87 Tecate, and I must say she was as slow as a wet week.

Anyway, two Banshees ripped right past us, both like bats out of hell. And here I was fouling up the plug on my "widow maker" waiting for my wife to catch up. Bless her heart, but even christmas was gaining on us.

Now I stewed on these two pesky Bansee for what felt like an eternity, torn between the thrill of a chase and the thought of my wife stranded in the middle of the dunes all by her lonsome. Sorry Darlin but evil homer made me do it! The pressure got too much so down went the Hammer.

With sand spewing from my rear tyres like two horizontal volcanic eruptions I launched up the track in search of two happy meals for the day. Around the bend the track disppeared up a 10 foot ledge onto a huge flat plateau of sand. I launched off the ledge, and there they where. Still racing each other across the wide expanse of sand about 100 metres in front of me. It was on!

I dropped a cog and nailed the throttle, picking up gears at the top of the revs untill I was in top gear. They had a fair gap on me and there was a alot of scrub on the other side of the clearing but I wasn't slowing down for any-one. With the engine screaming its head off. I caught up to these two banshees at full noise and spilt the two right down the middle as I roared between them. The looks on their faces was priceless, I though they were going to choke on their own eyeballs.

Soon after this I had to start thinking of where to go next because we were fast running out of space. Then I noticed a narrow track leading into the scrub on the edge of the clearing. The banshee boys original destination I suppose, I couldn't stop now so in l went, with two slightly miffed Banshee pilots hot on my heels.

This bush trail weaved left, right, in, out, up and down. I had no Idea where I was going and pretty soon I had the two Banshees right up my clacker. This went on for a bit until we got out onto another clearing, It was on for young and old now. All three of us crested a rise in the sand together, spread out and nailed it. Racing over another wide expanse of pure white sand. This time they were on it big time, they weren't passing me but, I wasn't blowing their doors off either.

It was decision time, and because I had the lead I pointed my trusty Tecate towards the biggest dune I could see. Lets see how they like climbing I thought to myself. Now the closer we got to this dune ther more I realised that this, perhaps, wasn't the brightest thing I have ever done, as it was a big big mother of a dune and none of us were slowing down at all. I even contemplated pulling out at the last minute, but there was no way that was going to happen now was there!

So it was cruch time, I slammed into the base of the dune at warp factor nine leaving permanent knobby imprints on the underside of my front fender and powered up that big sucker. To my utter amasement, just before we hit the Dune face. One Quad did a sharp left turn and the other Quad did a sharp right turn and both Banshees took of in opposite directions.

By the time I had reached the top of the Dune, both Banshee pilots had done the Harry Holt. Talk about running away with your tail between your legs...... Bye Bye Banshees.

Now that was an absolute blast, but I did feel like a prize tool when I got back to the Missus. When I was away she managed to come off her bike at walking pace over a bump the size of an egg, but thats another story all together...... Needless to say I had a bit of explaining to do.

This one doesn't have pictures, but it's one of the best trike vs. quad stories I've read (the mental images from reading this one are great). I call it "the little Tri-z that could" It's the story of a Tri-z that gave the fo-fitties a black eye out on the Pismo sand http://3wheelerworldforums.com/showthread.php?t=36492&highlight=FAST+tri-z enjoy!:beer

strong convictions, but I cant say I dont agree....anywho....

My roommate just got an 06 raptor. Mostly because he was pissed that I upgraded from an 85 x to an 86 R two days earlier. He couldnt keep up with me on his 02 4x4 400 scrambler. Not very agile, too heavy for good acceleration. first place we went was florance so we could really test out our new toys. I may have been riding longer than he but we were both on beasts that we didnt fully understand at the time, and he was hard pressed to get past me even in the drag races. time and time again id get the hole shot and be gone (although those raptors are geared for top speed...almost scary fast). All I kept thinkin, even when he would beat me was,"Dude you are nowhere near $5,000 faster than me." :D :D :D

and here are some pics of my baby. just cause all of my friends and coworkers are tired of seeing them, much like pictures of someones new baby, doesnt mean I cant show all you guys.....:postwhore :postwhore :postwhore

they are both of my R but his raptor is kind of an attention whore and jumped in the way of the last pic
