Quick Gas Tank Question

Hey guys, I just bought a new plastic gas tank for my 1984 Honda 200M. I was just wondering, on the cap, it has that vent think that sticks up slightly in the middle. I've seen all other plastic gas tanks have a rubber tube extending from this. I tried riding the ATC last night with the new tank on, and the gas kinda sputtered and sprayed out the top. Would a tube fix this, and is that why they are there? Thanks.

The plastic tank came with a new cap right ?

If so, then yes, a rubber line going up and over to the bars will fix your problem.

Absolutely, But make sure you dont kink the rubber, or the tank wont vent---(NO START)--also make absolutely sure where your tubing is routed so it cant "Spray" on anything hot , Or spit back at you while doing a modest 40-45.

Ok, cool. Thanks guys. I bought some tubing at the Honda parts store, and it works great. It's so nice having a gas tank that doesnt leak like hell out of the top, lol.
