i just got a yamaha 350x warrior from a friend. it is older, early 90s i think, and i am having problems getting it to start. i replaced the battery and now it makes the normal startup sounds, but refuses to catch and start. there was a couple of times that i got it running for maybe 30 seconds then it would die. i had the choke out, and the gas knob turned both up and down all to no avail. any ideas on what i am doing wrong, or what i need to get fixed to get it running?
Take the carb off and give it a good cleaning and re-adjust.......Probably have a clogged piolet jet....make sure to clean the air filtre at the same time to.

my friend experianced this problem wth his 01 warrior. was it sitting for any long lenghth or time? all we did to his was pop-start it while pushing him down his driveway and it started right up after the 3rd attempt and ran and still is going. never figured out the problem, but thats how he got his running, dont know if that helps at all.

It sounds like the starter clutch. They are a common problem.

Clean the carb, put a new spark plug, even a carb kit probably.
