I plan to head to Sand Creek by Paragould AR this Saturday (July 29). It's about 13 miles long, winding sandy creek, about a 1-2 ft deep. Lots of woody trails and bluffs. A big gravel pit too. Has a 'party area' for grilling and gathering. Anyone interested, post here.
Here's a couple pics that a buddy took this spring.

I forgot to mention. It can be the hottest day of the summer, and it feels 75 degrees there. The creek is completely shaded and usually a nice cool breeze coming off of the creek. They are trying to stop some of the jeep and truck traffic in the creek, but it's still a hayday for quads and trikes. Utilities work best, cause you tend to spin down in the gravely sand to the skid plates on sport quads/trikes. I've taken my 400EX there a couple times, and spent a lot of time lifting it out of the sand. The best time there has been on my 200S.

Sand Creek is a great place to ride. Wore out lots of chains, bearings and brakes but it was way worth it. I've watched a few trucks roll down that hill also. The water holes change every day it seams. And if you hear it thunder up creek you better get out, a wall of water from side to side will roll your butt over. Love to make that ride but just too many miles now a days.

chris, I hope to get more pics this Saturday to post up.
dgould, wish you could make it, maybe another time. They have recently put up posts in the creek to keep trucks out, maybe for that reason you stated. And a guy burned up in his new truck about 2am in the morning this winter, dunno if it was foul play or not. I saw a guy rip out a front diff on a Bronco a few years back.

No rules, just common sense and respect of the guys property. The guy that owns it is cool with it. Actually, I never met anyone that even knows who the guy is, I think it is property that has been in his family forever and he lives off somewhere. I try to take all my trash out and others to. There are usually families riding out there, and we usually don't rip it up to bad, it's too nice of a place to just rip through and not enjoy the scenery.

And, no riding in farmers fields, crops, or posted property along the creek. It's easy to see where you can ride and can't.

Nope, no fees.
Charleston MO? Mapquest says 2 hours. Charleston AR, Mapquest says 5 hours. Charleston TN 2 1/2 hours.

Yeah I think I am going to hold out on this one. I think being gone 2 weekends in a row wouldnt please the misses. I really need to sell this SX to the guy the first weekend of Aug since that might be the only time to meet for another month.

Travis,
Back in the late 80's some folks put up a big fence across the creek and posted it. We found out you can't post a waterway and they had to take all of the fences down. Like you said as long as everyone stays out of the farms it's cool. Can you still get into it off of the highway and park there?

Yeah, have you seen the new bridge and paved road? It's nice. We got chewed out by an old lady one day for parking up by the softball field! Now that the new road is there, you can park all along the side of the road and ride down to the creek without any problems.

Me and my wife and little girl went today. Had a good time. Maybe we can plan a ride with more notice.
There were about 20 quads there, 3 dirtbikes, and 8 horseback riders, and 2 Deputies on quads. Dgould, I talked to them and they are now enforcing staying in the creek bottom, and not getting on to private property, and only ride between the bridges (4-5 miles?). They were cool about it. What a terrible job, hehe, spend a Saturday on duty, on a quad! Someone that I met there said the creek is for sale. 80 acres, from bridge to bridge.
Here are some pics, I wore my DW shirt intentionally to try to send some pics into DW.
Here are some pics.
I had 2 break downs in the water and mud. Finally figured it out, I had 'drained' the 2 overflow hoses off the carb instead of 'venting' them. Ran like a champ after that. The deepest water I found was about 30-34", a guy told me there was one that was a little deeper but I didn't try that one. I got a lot of looks and people stopping me to ask about 'Red', of course I was glad to talk about it! :w00t: Most said "I use to have a Big Red, or 200X, etc" "Back in the day........."
I also paid attention to the county road #'s so I can give directions, and not just say "You'll see a big house with a 3 legged spotted goat, turn right. etc........"
