I am looking at a 2002 400ex for $2500.00. the bike looks clean, plastic is in fair shape,but it needs new tires. what should I offer him for it, and what should I look for before I buy it. thank you

I think $2,500 would be a pretty good buy if it is in good shape.

I would check the chain and sprockets. Check for loose tie rod ends. CHeck for bent frame. If it were me and he will let you I would pull the oil filter and look at it. All 400ex's have squeeky suspension so don't worry aobut that.

thank you for your help. I called him,and he said that the bike has about 20 hours on it.I find that hard to believe.maybe if he took it out, one day a year for the last 4 years

20 hours and needs tires? I'm still running the stockers on my 02, and have ran the crap out of em. $2500 sounds right to me. They are bulletproof, but check it over good to make sure nothing big is wrong?

actually 20 hrs on an 02 sounds unbelievable, but for most people so is an hour straight of hard riding, unless it is race bike and the way your describing it it doesn't sound like a race bike. These bikes are pretty much bulletproof and $2500 is a decent price for one.

I know of a guy that has a 2001 polaris sportsmen 500 has ten minutes of riding time on it. Rode it off the trailer and it still sits to this day.

I picked up my 02 shee for 2500 and it has a PT National kit and Pep front shocks, some other little goodies here and there.

Thats nice this is a 400EX thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have owned a banshee, they shoud be bought and sold by the pound at the scrap yard. I got rid of the banshee for a 400ex, probably the best trade I have ever done.

Did you find the guy yet, so you can ride/buy it?
