View Full Version : Need some advice on jetting a cobra megaphone for a 350X

My bike currently has a supertrapp exhaust with the stock head pipe. I'm planning to install a cobra megaphone with headpipe. What sort of air and fuel adjustments should i go with?? The supertrapp is maxed out at 8 discs which is the maximum for stock jetting. I never ride in mountainous terrain as i live in Ohio. Any suggestions???:confused:

keep the supertrapp exhaust, cobra's are garbage. I had a cobra on my 200x, I put a 350x supertrapp and its far better. why not up the main jet one or two sizes and put more discs in it?????

I never really thought of that. I've never really had that much experience with a supertrapp. I bought the bike with this exhaust. I like the sound as far as that goes. Jetting is something that i'm still trying "get good at" I know the Cobra will be way too loud for rural ohio towns that i ride through. I had one one another 350X I had once before but had no experience with jetting it.

cobra's are better with the spark arrester put on the end, they are quieter and seam to make similar power, but the impoartant thing is that they don't piss everybody off as easily. some say that a 400ex carb makes quite a improvement, especailly for starting the bike.

I also live in Ohio, and I found that my stock jet was actually a little rich with the stock stuff. I ended up with a Cobra pipe, Uni air-filter and no airbox lid and my jetting is spot on (still with the stock jet).

I had a 350x about 4 years ago that had a Cobra with a Uni-Filter. I bought the bike that way, but i had no idea how it was jetted or anything. It seemed to run great, better than anything i had ridden at that time. I sold that bike because i was getting married. I bought another '85 last year and i'm in the process of buying the one i had before back off the guy i sold it to. He was gonna pull the motor for his 250X 4-wheeler which seemed a waste of a good 3-wheeler. Anyway, what sort of modifying would a 400EX carb need to work on a 350X??
