I am new to owning a 3 wheeler. I have a 1984 Honda Big red 200. A local shop quoted me $250 to do a tune -up on it. What are some things I can just do myself.? I know how to chage the plug, check the filter, etc. How do I change the oil? What typoe of oil do I use? Is there some kind of ger oil I should change and how do I do so? Any quick helpful hints would be appreciated. Thx

$250 wow! all you need to do is change the oil & filter, plug, diff oil, clean the air filter & box, clean the gas filter and install a inline filter, check for zirk fittings and grease them, probley $50 total cost and take the other $200 and get your self some hondaline acc... engine oil- some good 10-40 for summer and 10-30 for winter diff Oil use 80w90 maxima gear oil

Don't let a shop kill you for basic general maintenance. If they know you are a rookie, SOME shops will take you for a ride. First thing is go and buy yourself the Clymer manual for this bike. As bryan raffa said do the plug, filters, fluids, and grease everything that you can. Also check for loose bearings, condition of cables and brakes, etc. The manual will give you a routine maintenance schedule to follow. By all means don't spend $250 for work that you can do for a lot less in a couple of hours.
