alright the new trike i picked up wouldnt idle at all because the needle jet was set on the 4th instead of the 3rd groove, it seemed like it had more top end and i liked the way it ran, but i set it back to the third groove so i could get it to idle, is there an adjustment i can make so i can have the clip set on the 4th groove, and still have it idle??? do i just need to play with the pilot jet or something? help would be nice i dont like having to feather the throttle to keep it going and when i pull the clutch id like it to idle.

i turn that all the way in when i have the needle clip in the 4th groove and it does nothing, should i turn the pilot screw in a little and then play with the idle screw to get it to idle on the jet setting?

have you ever played with the jetting besides adjusting the idle screw?

sorry to say but the needle has NOTHING to do with idling,,, if you find a jetting chart you will see what i mean,,,, there are only 2 things that effect idle speed ,,, 1. the idle screw and 2. the air or in some cases fuel screw,,,

...and Ill add the pilot jet which is what you are tuning with the air screw. Start with air screw at 1 1/2 turns out, and then adjust idle with idle screw. Then after you get a good idle speed, you adjust air screw for best throttle response off of idle by blipping the throttle open. Idle problems that cant be solved with the external adjustments usually go back to a clogged pilot jet.
