I got my Polaris cyclone back together, and i tried to start it an dit wont start, so I put some gas right into the piston and it ran for about 2 seconds. I played with the idle screw, and the air/fuel mixture screw but the thing still wont start? anybody have an idea of what is going on, thank you.

Does gas flow out of the fuel line if you remove it from the carb?
Pull the carb and clean it.

well i had it running for a second, but it got put off for now because of rain. I had to put my idle screw almost all the way in for it to start, thanks anyways smokin.

Nevermind that post above, now it wont start again, ive adjusted all of the screws again and it isnt starting! Any more ideas? Carb is clean, and when I unhook the gas line from the carb gas is coming out of it.

sounds like gas is not entering the float bowl, disconnect the line from the tank and blow into it. If you cant needle is getting stuck.

If i blow into that hole it wont fill up with air and gas wont blow back into my mouth will it?

possibly, but it would be fun to try...
there should be a screw/cap to drain teh carb.
do that first and leave it open.
turn the gas on and see if it comes out of the overflow again.

I cant turn off the gas and turn it back on, my petcock is broken, so I will just take off the gas line and then drain the carb and then I will blow into the hole where the gas line hooks up and see if air will go through. Deepa, ill let you be the first to blow into the carb when there is still gas in it.

I went and I unhooked the gas line from the carberator, and thehole of where the gas line connects to the carb I blew in and air was going into the carb from that hole, so any other suggestions?

float hieght set wrong. pilot jet clogged or to small. does that have reeds? if so check them. a broken reed, will cause hard starting

clean the pilot jet
look through the little holes ,if dirty -you can use a needle,or guitar string, or boil it
clean the carb ,try air screw at 2 turns out from closed
set the slide set screw to where it just lifts it up a little

the pilot jet is fine, I had it out and blew air through it, I have tried every setting of air/fuel and idle, the carb is as clean as a whistle, but my choke is broken in so I cant move it...I might have to take it to a backdoor mechanic:(

Have you checked compression? Will it run on penetrating oil, don't use ether. If it has good compression check the reeds and clean the carb again your missing somethign if everythign else is good.
