big red rear shock!

i want to take the big red rear shock apart to blast it and powder coat it but i was told that you could not, and i see no way to do it either any suggestions or other models that i can still buy the rear shock for that will work

The shock will come apart. I have done it. Took the spring off and repainted it. Its not that tough, but the spring is under quite a bit of tension. Isn't easy, but it can be done. Now I dont konw about the shock itself. But you can take the spring off.

thanks clay. i can use a coil spring compresser to remove the spring. i wanted to powder coat the shock and rebuild it but i do not se any way to refill it with gas or oil after the fact. so i quess i will just paint it. i may be wrong but i think i asked you a while back what kind of paint that you used to repaint your big red tank. i know you answered me but i lost that email. i bought 6 different kinds od red powder to do the tank but none of them are even close.. i know the factory paing is PPG Passion red but, the local ppg shop here can not find a paint code off of just the name. thanks for any information
