just want to make one suggestion. get an aluminum exhaust flange with o rings. it will keep that newly painted engine looking nice, and you wont have a leaky oily mess

No they don't hit, the right fork is about 1.5 inches away from the radiator cap........ I grinded them to be equal with the frame if you look staight down from the stearing neck.

 wow thanks AZ250R!!! It's ok though I see what your getting at, but a year ago I proubly wouldn't have been "qualified" to rip the machine completely down......

Wanta86r is right I am building an ice racer, maybe some flat track stuff off season as well. I will still ride the trails around here, but they are nice smooth and strait RR beds. They are ideal for high-speed cruising and about 20 miles in length so now I go through an ST tank after about 3 runs up and down (I already had an ST tank and shrouds on my R, just liked the look more...). So with a 310 kit I'll of coarse be toasting through gas, but 2 runs i should still easilcy get without even getting into reserve. I keep gas in the truck so when I pass it I'll just fill her up.

my 250r with a short track burns through the gas super fast, not many can believe how often I have to refuel. However, I do closed course mx riding, and a large fuel tank is not needed. I get about 12 laps around one track I ride at(2.3 mile course) and the tank is bone dry. I love the short track kit for mx racing, I can't see it being any good for much else. I hope he really enjoys it for ice racing, however, I would change the choice of tires for ice use, you want a ice racing tire or a tire that you can stud. Turf Tamers won't grip on ice very good, and you are hard pressed to stud them with the soft compound.

ChrisD
08-30-2006, 08:50 PM
You absolutely need the S/T kit for flat track and ice racing too. The extra little bit saved my but a bunch of times and it lets you get really agressive coming into the turn close without worring about overshooting the apex of the turn. It really works well. You need to get Cheng Shin C826 18x9.5x8 tires for ice racing...good studs too (Kold Kutters)

Yeah I know, Cheng-sing 18's are best. ChrisD's "ice racer setup page" is like the ice racer's bible

One other thing with the 310 kit. You may actually go smaller on your jetting. The larger motors have lower velocity through the carb and reeds so you may end up rich. I would ride it first, to a plug chop and see what it looks like.

I went from a 190 to a 175 main jet on my 40.5 PWK.

I'll agree with ya on that fer sure! I'd be run'n one too if I didn't need all the petrol I can carry. I get about 30 miles on a tank now run'n the same carb as you. Shoot'n lotsa hills just sucks my gASS! ;)

I took a quick ride around my yard and the only single word that describes it is "EFFORTLESS"........Effortless power and effortless steering:naughty:
I never left 1st gear! You could defiantly tell how much more power was now at your comaned!!! It didn't wheelie bad at all, even on tar....... I suppose if you just punched the throttle on pavement you could get the front end up easy though........

What's remarkble is this machine is geared for top end, and you still notice the ton of extra power even in 1st gear! That's with a 14-tooth front sprocket!!!!!

Any questions you gusy have I'll be more than happy to answer (yes I really am 16 gottahaveaUS90  )

It's gonna be an ice racer in the winter and in the other seasons I'll be riding on the RR beds and sandpits around here. And not I didn't lengthen the swinger, and I never will!!!! I'll gear the hell out of it before I lengthen the swinger and make handling horrible!!!!

It's really amazing to see someone who wasn't even born when these things were built having the initiative and knowledge to build something this radical. Where did you find the ST kit and how much did it cost you? I bought mine about 8 years ago when they were still cheap but I've seen them go for some crazy money since then. If this winter pulls through for us (unlike last year) you've got to come down and do some ice racing with us in Greenwood Lake, NY or maybe we can come up and hit some ice by you. BTW be careful with that ST kit, those parts are impossible to find and even more expensive to replace. I've got to post some pics of mine, I haven't been on here much in 5 or 6 years and the trike looks a lot different from when it was on the top of the home page.

Well glad to see your back on 3WW JohnR!!! You must ride/race with ChrisD on Greenwood lake right? Defiantly would like to hang with you gusy some time, if not this winter maybe I'll see you at Trikefest???

I do apprechiate the fact that you admire me (being born in 1990) for doing all this. Sometimes it amazes even me. Unfourtunelty I only get compliments from kids my age who have the knowlage to understand what I'm doing. Mostly it's usually "WTF? Who rides a 3-wheeler???" or "Those things are illegal arn't they???"....... I just laugh, especially when kids say their CRF250R would smoke me

I got the ST kit from wanta86r for $450......... Good price for a complete kit in great shape now adays......... I have a spare ST tank and shrouds (in rougher shape but still decent). Like I mentioned earlier around Christmas time I want to buy maier white rear fender, front fender and headlight shroud and then buy white ST shrouds from Aussieduner. I want it to look like the 1987 HRC ATC250R that never was, my lasting tribute to the ATC's I guess you'd call it.....:beer

Yeah, ChrisD, myself, my cousin, and a couple of other's who don't frequent this place tear it up out there. Trikefest is a possibility but not very likely since family stuff is very hectic right now. Again, good work on the machine and keep us updated.
