Are swingarm bolts and bearings no longer available for the 1984 250R? I got this impression from another post. If not, what do you guys use to rebuild them? I used a 300EX swingarm rebuild kit for my 350X. Only modification I had to make was to cut down the inner tube by like 1 inch. A little help would be appriciated on this matter. Also - I would love to hear horror/success stories of the dreaded siexed swingarm bolt. My plans are to cut the bolt, then take the frame to the 20 Ton press. It appears someone has been bashing away at the swingarm bolt, as there is not even a nut on it.
Thanks!
Yeah that impression was from me. I really havent looked too hard but.... I know that they are discontinued from honda. Someone on here was talking about making them. I forget who though.

a new bolt would not be hard to machine from raw material. its not a real detailed design. the bolt in my 83R came out with a push of my finger, I got really lucky. my 200X was a real pain in the arse. it took an 18" brass punch and a 10lb. sledge to knock it out. I had to buy a new one at $60 but it was worth it as the new one was in spec for roundnes, the old one wasnt. now for bearings you have a couple options, go to www.hyperparts.com and look up the swing arm bearings, call us if you go to the hospital, or you can get a hold of x.system and have him lathe up a set of nylon bushings.

OK - so here is a questions for you all - I think (I have to assume) that the swingarm bolt would be a hardended (heat treated) bolt. Is this true? Would a new one (machined) have to be hardened, or would standard bolt material work?

I'm sure the original is hardened as it is a load bearing surface. it isnt hard to harden a piece of steel. get it as hot as you possibley can without warping the bolt and then drop it in a vat of oil and let it cool to room temp and your done.
