a TRUE story not for those with short attention spans

When I was growing up there was a flat track 15 minutes from my house. I remember this guy from out of town with several Tigers. He won and he won big!!!! I never paid incredible attention to the tigers then and never appreciated how rare they would become (I was 14 or 15 at that time in life). I recently talked to several people and we remenisced about this guy racing up at Oakland valley race track.

I have made tons of contacts and talk to people all the time about three wheelers. I recently (last thursday)received a phone call that three tigers were collecting dust in a dealership 30 miles from my house. The Story I received was that son died and the parents had the machines and they just sat. My heart was pounding!!!! I quickly dropped all I was doing loaded the trailer on my truck ran out the door but turned around and decided to try to make a call or two first. I researched it and found out the dealership sold recently (Damm) the old owner had it for 47 years!!!!....I found the old owner in the white pages and called him....An older gentleman answered...I Asked him if he had any tiger ATVs...He got real quiet and said he did. He had three tigers a 125, 250, and 4 wheeler. In talking with him I quickly found out this wasnt just a lead on a couple of tigers these WERE the TIGERS I used to see race!!!!!!!! Never thought I would find this family. His son who used to race locally and Lake George suffered a personal loss and subsequently an untimely and unatural death. Not to long after this someone went to the dealership in orange county NY monroe /central valley area broke into a shed and STOLE all three TIGERS!!!!and all the machines were stolen 2-3 years ago. A sad story. He opened up with me and told me all the racing stories and how they were the first ones on the east coast to have tigers and how he spoke with the president of tiger about selling them at his dealership. He had many great memories with his son that revolved around those machines and some low life scum stole them. We talked for 30-45 minutes and he really seemed to enjoy going back to that time in their lives.

So my excitement of finding three tigers went from super excited to disappointment to sadness. Man... a couple years ago there were three gorgeous tigers just sitting in a shed 30 minutes from my house. But alot more was lost than three tigers:( A fellow atv enthusiast lost his life, a dad lost his son, and the tigers lost their home as someone lost their morality.

Although the trail is cold if anyone nows the fate of these machines or has any leads please PM me.

I wonder if by some chance of (bad?) luck the one that trikeaholic picked up from someone here on the forum a couple years ago was one of them. It was beat kind of bad if I remember right. No fenders and missing a few other things. I think it had been a ice racer was the story.

If you want some IN THE CRATE, talk to brapp. He knows a guy that wants $8000 a piece for them. most are 250s but he does have a 500 i believe. Really neat story and if you can find them it'd be the icing on the cake. Raced, stored, stolen, reunited.

Funny...I don't remember a dealership in Monroe or Central Valley. I always went to Ayres Honda or Cycle Motion in Middletown. It doesn't mean that there wasn't one, but I thought I would have come across it at some point. Weird.

There was a guy who sold 3 Tigers on Ebay from Monroe a couple years ago. I guess I now know who bought them.

There was a guy who sold 3 Tigers on Ebay from Monroe a couple years ago. I thought that all three only went for 2500 or so. I remember thinking that was a rediculous price and that Monroe was only 15 minutes away. Never followed up on it though.

The family owned a car dealership.

OK here is some closure on this thread...I talked to the former owner of the TIGERS and dealership again last week. He insisted that the Tigers were stolen...I gave him all the facts I gathered and he got quiet... but quietly insisted they were stolen and talked 1/2 hour about a vintage cadillac he sold. This is why I got confused when I got one story from him and another from 3 tigers. As I said this was an older gentleman. I work in the health care sector and have come to the conclusion that this man (as sad as it is)may be suffering from alzheimers or some other aging disease that may affect his memory or perception of events. Paranoia is a classic example. He beleives someone stole them but that assumption is not based in reality. A weird chain of events and story for sure!!!! Damm I missed those Tigers.....3 tigers... be happy and celebrate I wasnt collecting them at that time. I would have gone all out on them $$$$$$$ being as close as they were to me.....ready to sell???
