I started with the older rigid frame restros and have worked on a few 350X projects ,but am now at the point where I need some suggestions from the forum, being you!! I am not interested in doing a 2 stroker of anykind ,but more looking at a Thumper!! I have seen the awesome machines that 452X and other board members have built with the 350X chasis ,but I don't want to copy nothing they did ,I want to build something that has'nt been done yet-unique ,tasty but totally custom!! I have talked to a few board members and have some really good ideas but I am just getting some ideas on what you guys would like too see me doo in my next build!Pic is of the last 350X project,,,next one-200x possible but want to go bigger!!!

As far as the 450,I have discussed it with some board members and think that would be a good idea!! I don't want to copy a awesumly built machine that another person has built ,nor do I want a thrown together piece!! Now do I go with a modified quad frame or a bike or do I stick to a 350X type chasis!! How about trannys?? Battery?? do I need a fan?? Oil coolers?? Looking for as many suggestions as possible!! All serious suggestions and oppinions are greatly appreciated ,in advance!!!

What about the 500x? Putting a XR500 or FT500 engine in a much modded 350x frame.
I think the 250r chassis would be better, more of a race quad, also you could use the radiators that all already there

If it's gotta be a Honda. I would suggest useing a modified 86 250R chassis with upside down forks and stuff in a 1000 Interceptor motor. That should make a pretty decent machine with a fairly low CG and loads of torque.
i think a 87 200x with a new crf 250 dirtbike engine with dual pipes would be cool as heck.it would be a good trike for a novice rider.dont know how it would work, but it looks like you have the ability to make it happen.

i agree with mosh,that would be siick.or,build a 200x with the crf230 motor,i heard they bolt right in.easy to ride,and electric start

I was thinking of doing that with one of the 200X's I have, just to bad the motors are still a grand for just the long block! Oh and the bike itselfs freakin' hauls. My buddy has an 05 and its pretty freakin' wild!

Tell us more about what you want to do with the bike. That may help with suggestions.

I'd go with a CRF450 then convert. Rads and such are already in place, just need to make a swinger.

Well I looked at a 98 xr 600 the other day and was contimplating that ,but I get to looking it over a bit and see that the frame is actually a resivoir ,I think that could be modded using the existing frame ,changing up misc. brackets and changing the rake on the xr ,to more suit a trike frt end. I really have been looking into the crf 450 motors also,I like those vs chopping a quad 450R,the quad has the battery and that setup looks like it could be a mess. But the 450 is up at the top of the list ,or the xr conversion of some type! Mosh- I do like the idea of the 200x/250 with duals, that is a good idea also!! As far as what I would like too do with the bike, probably some drags mostly`!! I'm getting going on another 350X so I can come and MX down with you Ohio Boys!!So basically I just want to drag it and drink pops and look at it!!!
if ya want to drag it,then the crf 250 job would be out of the question.unless there would be a 4 stroke class.i think it would be sweet for a all around trail trike,as long as you can get the handling down good.i think if the handling was there,mx could be doable.i kicked that idea around a few months ago,but lack of funds is stopping me from the crf-x conversion.:(
damn you said "drink pops" lol I havent heard that since I lived in Chicago, lol

Well I think I found my next big project! I came across a older XR 600,that is all complete and runs ,but needs a topend and some TLC !I think it will be a teadious conversion, but I know where to go with my questions!! I had meant to take some pic's of it but forgot my camera, hopefully I can send some pic's with it sitting in the shop!!Looking forward to this one,I also am in the process of a '83 200x Thumper slighlty modded and a 185S restoration,so I can't complain about being bored!!

There is no replacement for displacement!! Speed Freak.... Go for the xr 600 conversion. It sounds nasty....
