What's the best size paddle and rim combo to run on a stock 85 Tri-z? 20, 21 x10? I'm thinkin 10 inch rims for better handling. What do you think? I'm heading to Silver Lake next month. Thanks!

What is the benefit to running a taller 21 compared to a 20 inch tire? I'm going to run 8 paddles, but am not sure on size. What is everyone running on their bikes?

I ran my 20in razrs at silver lake and loved them on my Z. I rode a R with paddles and really didnt like it, I found I could whip it around easier and slide better, run 3 psi in the tires you are fine. Just adding the 2 cents, I can see on glamis massive hills and such to run paddles cause they do give you more forward acceleration, but for the occasional duner I think standard tires are fine, but then again ive been to the dunes once.

the TALLER Sized Tires give you MORE Floatation... i use NOTHING Smaller than the 22-11-8.... the bigger rims spin TOO Much ... BUT.......................
i'm S T R E T C H E D 12" on my TRI-Z with my "stock motor"
How Bout it Kintore ?? :beer

For all out straight line acceleration Skat Trak Haulers are the way to. V paddles do turn a little better but the bike will still want to straight line unless you use some major body english. For a stock trike I'd stick with the same size as the stock rear tires (20") unless you plan on re-gearing but I definitely would not go with a taller tire. 8 paddle tires are more than enough for your Z as 10 paddles would be too much for it.

I was thinking of just running my blackwaters. Problem is all of my buddies are runnin paddles, so i'll probably be left in their dust. I do like to slide my z around though and not just drag all day.

You wont be left in there dust, the only advantage they will have is on take off. when your out of 2nd gear those blackwaters wil hook up fine.

I rode with 400ex stock tires, not much large tread but they were excellent in the sand.

Dammit!

It really depends on the type of sand you'll be riding in. Where you're located I bet you'd be fine with knobs. Deep, super soft sand is where you really NEED paddles. Packed or moist sand knobbies work really well in. I've run 400ex tires on my R at glamis and had a blast with them.
