hi there, ive just bought a '85 Tri Z 250 and its the best bit of fun ive had for ages, the CR is now taken a break in the lock up, its in fair condition for its age but im looking to re-condition it.
i took it to an enduro track the other day and really gave it some and it done well, i was quite supprised, the engine is so tight and quick.
here's a pic of it as soon as id collected it

You and your races Pete.... well at least I know I should be ahead of you in the drags :naughty: but I need some track practice yet. must come up to ride again;)

Hi jleggz
Love the Tri-z. Spend most weekends down your way (up near palling). The track at Swaffam sounds intersting. I guess the 110 might be a bit outclassed though !!!

hi everyone,
hi ML, yeah, palling isnt that much further up the coast from me, trust me, there wasnt any class riding on the Tri Z at swaffham, more fun as it was just drifting round every corner where there was deep puddles and there were plenty, but for the amount of really classy crossers down there they all took a look at the Z,
people love them
where are you from ML, do you do watersports up palling

it was the first time ive been to swaffham, its just a bit of track through a wood, its about 2 miles long, excellent fun tho, it costs £20 for 6 hours, we managed 4 and a half and we were dead, trying to get the bikes back on the truck after was fun, lol, DO IT, get the XR out, weve found about 6 tracks within a hour of where we live so were all planning on doing one a month but we have got a bit of land we use where we all ride and play during the week after work and at the weekends, jet ski is on my list for the next toy to own, lol, really need to find somewhere to keep it all, i think my boss is probabley getting a bit hacked off with them all being in his stores, lol

hi pete, i bet uve got some good places to ride over in wales, i love wales, its one of the best places ive been to, we work around the UK installing AV equipment into bars, clubs and we used to have a contract with the caravan parks all around the coast and we spent many a time going through wales, ie Aberaron, first place in wales i went to, we went through there the other week from Quay West, id love to stick my bike and trike in a truck and get right in the heart of wales and go for a thrash, do a bit of camping, would be great
james
p.s Wow you have some toys :TrikesOwn

im well up for having a meet up, im hoping by the time this happens il have an 86 model, i want to have both and would like to get a clean 86, my 85 looks a bit of a dog at the mo and is already on the way to be getting done up, but this will always be my play machine, right, now this is where im gonna confuse people, i was told by a friend that his friend had a tri z and it used to lift the front wheel up nearly everytime it was hitting the powerband without the aid of the clutch, but mine hasnt lifted at all, and im always giving it the big 'un, i can ride a bike so i dont think its user error, am i being spun a load of crap or does my bike need setting up, when i got the trike i couldnt get it above around 5k and i later found that the mixture screw was wound all the way in, i stripped the carb and air lined everything and got some carb cleaner in there and cleaned out anything that wasnt meant to be there, it does feel a bit better now, the air mixture screw is 1 and a half turns out,
am i expecting too much, am i expecting it to be like my CR, sorry for the ignorance
please help

When I was last out riding, we did a few drags and I was working to keep the front end down in 4th, and it would lift occationaly in 5th. Change your plug, mine wouldnt rev when it fouled out the plug. Thought id cooked my motor doing drags haha.
jleggz
09-29-2006, 05:09 PM
hi sloth, thanks for the reply, ive changed the plug to an NGK equivalent, im sure ive got the right plug, could you give me the plug code for the one your using, ive just bought a 2nd hand coil aswell, ive just received it, could it be a problem there
jleggz
09-29-2006, 05:11 PM
also, what premix are you doing, im using the same as my CR which is 50ml to a gallon of fuel
slothminx
09-29-2006, 05:51 PM
Im running a BR8ES or a B8ES in my Z. Premix is 50:1 with klotz supertechniplate oil.
It is possible its your coil, I dont have a spare I can lend you, When I bought my Z it had a bad coil too.
jleggz
09-29-2006, 06:08 PM
hi sloth, ive just bought a 2nd hand coil off ebay for £20, it came off a triz and was also tested in a tri z quad before it came to me, hopefully this will sort the problem, its getting put on 2moro now, il pick up a br8es 2moro, i think mine might be a br6es but im not sure, my trike is at work at the mo so il have to check in the morning, if its not the coil, plug, where else do i go
thanks sloth
slothminx
09-30-2006, 05:29 AM
Theres a few things after those, Main jet clogged, faulty reeds, low compression. If the coil doesnt fix it, I have a set of standard Z reeds that worked great when in mine that you can have. I only changed them to compare to Boyesen aftermarket reeds
jleggz
09-30-2006, 07:30 AM
hi sloth, compression when kicking over is excellent, compared to my CR, and my CR is running fine, as for the main jet, i dont know where it is but everything to do with my carb got air lined and cleaned with carb cleaner and i dont think there was anything left blocked, thanks for the offer on the standard reeds, il sort you a beer for them, as for the boyesen reeds, what are these like ???, where could i get some from ???
many thanks
jleggz
09-30-2006, 07:33 AM
as for the premix, you say your using 50:1, is this the ratio, can i have lamens terms please, how much 2 stroke does that work out per litre, mine is 10ml per litre, 50ml to every 5 litres
slothminx
09-30-2006, 02:23 PM
That is 1 part oil in every 50 parts fuel. Say 1 liter of oil in every 50 liters of fuel. Or 100ml in 5 liters of fuel. Your running 100:1! thats pretty thin on oil. Boyesen reeds are available on ebay for $16 plus UK shipping. They are meant to improve the throttle reponse and the like.
