Looking to add some clearance on my 85 350X. I was thinking about putting some 25's on the rear. Anyone out there run 25's on their X ?

your 350X is gonna look extremely odd with 25" tires in the back. your front tire is only 23.5" tall so you trike is gonna look like a stink bug(ass high). if you are that concerned with ground clearence I say go for it, its your trike. another option is to get a new set of 22" flat profile tires and then get a hold of www.prm-atv.com and get a thick skid plate for the back.

I run 25's on the rear of my 200S. 22 on the front.

I agree. On a sport trike, huge tires would look odd. Now, on a ute trike, I think the balloon tires that fill up the wheel well look great! As long as the front is of equal size(not necessarily width).

...but, as was said...its your trike. Do it up bro! :beer

Do what you need to do man, looks arent so important if you are stuck out in the trails. its more important that your trike performs than how it looks.

Yeah, hes's right. A 200S is a more ute than sport, so the 25's are good on it.

Hey! I just realized. I have another pair of tires in my garage for the rear. Don't know if they are 25's or 22's though. Wonder if anybody needs some..........

All the bigger I go on mine is 21"... With 25's you'll have to regear if you want to maintain your gearing. With tires that big and stock gearing(assuming) It'll probably run about 120mph..:w00t: just jokin man, but it will gear it up and you'll lose some of that low-end get-up-and-go.

Sargon2112

Yeah I was expecting to have to tweak the gearing if I went with large tires. The guy who had it before me put 20's on it and they are too small for the type of riding I plan to do with the X. It will be in stuff like in Mastacator's pics.

Thanks for the opinions guys! Always value the opinions of fellow trikers... Maybe I'll compromise and go with the stock size. I'm getting Maxxis All Traks by the way, just have to decide on the size.

Here's a link to a pretty good site to buy tires incase some of you didn't know about this site. They have a pretty large selection and prices are not bad.

20s and a good skidplate, that what we did when I raced Cross Country, better handling and decent ground clearance.

My brother ran 25" on his 350x but he has a +6 swinger and +8 axle, so its long and wide. He seemed to really like em. But on a stock bike they willnot clear. Do whatever you want, if its going to suit yoru riding then do it.

Who's asking to run with 25's, GEORGE MICHEAL:lol: ?????? Hell why not put 31" Swamper TSL's. You could cut the rear fenders off so they clear. Make sure the tires don't bite your ass off! You could even put one on the front so it looks even. Maybe fab up some new steel rims for it. Hey you could go with a 11/60 gearing. The sproket would almost be as big as the tires, there goes the ground clearance.

NOT!!!!!!

Good skid plate and ride the ridge when it gets deep.

I'd reccomend the 22inch version if your going to use All traks (Excellent tire choice BTW) They are tough as nails and will definetly hook up when you need them to. A little bit of extra work to power slide with them but you can do it.

Mine had 25 inch on the rear when I bought it and it handled terribly. Really awkward and sitting super high in the rear end. It did not hit the fenders unless a decent jump was performed, but the handling was terrible and the low end torque was non-existent. I wouldn't recommend. I have 20's on the rear and a PRM plate. It does great on the trails.

I have to agree. Out of all the dumb relpies in this thread, the majority pertained to what it looked like without any mention of performance. I love going around and past "cool" guys who are stuck. I also love riding past guys who run cross country with nerf bars and 18" Turf Tamers. A also like mud running against guys who chop their fenders off and call it a "race cut".

Setup based on cosmetics is for showpieces and garage queens.

Selecting tires based on looks = ARMCHAIR RACER!!!!!!

If you actually ride, get something that works.

The All Trax are a great choice for the riding you mentioned, and I also agree with Billy that 22" is the way to go for your 350X. The geometry of the trike is what mostly affects what size tires you can run, and how they will affect its handling.

Dropping on tooth on the front will give you similar gearing you had with 20" tires. Personally, I dont ride the freeway with mine, so gearing exta low so you dont have to slip the clutch all day is a great idea

is that your hill climber? looks like a bit extended.

Actualy no, that engine is stock. The white and blue one is the extremely built engine. It is +6 swinger and 8" wheels spacers. So ya it would make a good hill climber.

Trying to do the three wheeler thing with just one set of tires is like trying to golf with just one club. I had the opportunity to run 25's on my 350X a little while back, it was great for the terrain (Razor Road) which was desert trails and sandy mountainsides. It had some serious top end !
