As some of you know from my previous thread I got a 70 for my 4 year old daughter and she loves it. She's been riding a few times and has even done some solo rides. Anyway, I've been working on a 70 for me since I had so much fun riding her's. Here's some pics now that I've got a rolling chassis together:

The pics don't do everything justice since I painted the entire frame in an anthracite metallic, the engine side covers, the chain cover, and the brake drum cover, in a wrinkle finish charcoal grey metallic. The cylinder and main (center cases) engine are wrinkle finish silver and the forks are metallic. The metallic parts are pretty "bling" in person but definitely not like a bass boat or anything. I've got to Kreem the tank and find a seat/brackets to make it rideable. I'm trying to decide what to do for a "real" motor but for now the stocker will do as long as it runs OK. I hope you all enjoy it. When its done I'm hoping to have a little clone of my '85 ATC330R.

HAHAHAHA!! Yeah, the wife is letting me keep it inside for now but it'll be in the shed with its brothers and sisters soon enough. The pipe is a White Brothers for a CRF50, I don't know how it sounds, I haven't started it yet. I may fire it up tomorrow with the gas tank from my daughter's 70 just to hear it run.

what tires and rims do you have on it? Im interested in replacing the stock steelies on my sons with alum. Also what size are the rims and tires? Do they fit the fenders?

Thanks for the kind words everyone! I've been really busy all week with a MAJOR home project (new roof) so even though I've been on vacation I haven't had time to fool with it. The front is a Douglas 8x6 wheel with 3" on each side (i.e. no offset) and the tire is a Maxxis 18x7x8 that is intended for the front of an Eton kiddie quad. The rear wheels are Douglas 8x8 with 3" of backspacing so they widened it up quite a bit. The rear tires are Carlisle Turf Savers and are 16x7.5x8 so they are a little too narrow for the rear rims but the choices in a 16" tire for an 8" rim are limited and if anyone makes a wider tire in that height I was unable to track it down. I didn't want to go to an 18" tire for the fender clearance problems and the fact that I don't like the way it looks with all 3 wheels the same size but as it sits the tires in the back are the same diameter as stock so no fender clearance issues. I wanted to give it some of the stance of my 250R so I went with a bigger front tire and a smaller back, I've been thinking about trimming the sides of the front fender to narrow it up to match the skinnier front tire. Those turf savers aren't much good for any sort of off roading but they were cheap and gave the 70 the look I was after. GBC makes a Holeshot type tire in 16" on a 8" rim but it is only 6.5" wide and that wouldn't work with the 8x8 rims I wanted. Besides, they are more rounded in the tread area and I wanted the flat tracker look. I did get the bars on, the steering head bearings in, and the front tire to seat on the bead (what a fight that was) but I haven't taken any pics. I'll get some uploaded soon. BTW, no CR80 motor here. Maybe a Lifan 125 manual shift with the "chrome package" option though. For now I just want to get the 70 motor running so I can hear that exhaust.

Don't mean to hijack your thread JohnR but I had to...

No sweat and thanks for your help over at the Glamis 70 forum. That thing is scary looking!! Taking a CR80, swapping on an ATC front wheel (from something with front brakes though), and welding a solid axle set up in the rear is definitely the way to go with something like that. You even get suspension with that set up.

Very Nice work! I want to do an ATC 70 for myself soon also. Maybe next year.
