well, I decided that I'm goin to load up all my machines, ANd bring my daughter,cousins,girlfreind,buddies to go ride/camp in the Ocala national forest. Will leave friday morning of the 24th of nov and leave late sunday the 26th. Any body else want to join up then come on!! Probabaly a few buddies of mine will make the treck as well. I have no idea whare the best spots are so some local help would be awesome from you guys. An dit would be awesoem to get a bunch of us trikers out and meet each other and hit the sand/trails/camp. The only days I would be able to out there would be Thur & part of Fri, so I will try to get with you next time. If you camp at Big Scrub or Lake Delancy(sp?) you can ride right out of camp. Take a gps it will help you out.

last time I was at big scrub and lake delancey they did not have showers.big scrub was building some not sure if they are done.when I camp up there I go to alexander springs.cant ride out of there but the the trailhead is about 3 miles away.I just trailer to it.THe camp ground has nice showers and a cool swimming hole.The trails by scrub are ok if you get away from the campground.the trails on the east side of 19 are much better.trust me on this.when I go for the day I take 19 to 445 then park under the big power lines where they cross the road.the trailhead is right there.you can ride to the new trailhead from scrub but it is very whooped out.It is nice to be able to ride out of camp but a shower after a long day is nice.one way or the other i will be riding at least sat and sun maybe friday also.If you ride around scrub check out blue sink it is a cool swimming hole that you can ride up to.that is easy to find.hope to see you guys up there.If i dont camp on fri night I will be under the power lines on 445 at 9:45 am on sat.If you guys are dead set on camping at scrub I will do that I know some good trails out from there.

Last time I was there the shower were not done yet, but I haven't been there for a couple of months. I would ask someone at atvflorida.com if they are done or do a search. The trails are whooped out at the begining after a while they smooth out. If you want showers you will want to stay at a differnt spot.

No matter where you all meet up you will have fun. Take some goggels with you. It has been dry here so you will be eating alot of dust.

Preferbaly I need a campground that has some kind of shower facility there so I can wash up. This is going to be my first time, I think it is $17 dollars a night minimum 2 night stay on weekends. I am sure you can get one cheaper, my wife printed up a bunch of different campsites information. Of course the cheaper ones like Big Scrub have no showers and other amenities. fla 2 stroke told me it is about three miles to the trail head and some better trails not all whooped out. He gave some details earlier in the thread.

Sky and anyone else who may want to camp this Thanksgiving weekend. I went to Alexander Springs this past weekend and here is my report.
Alexander springs is a nice campground, very strict on their rules and they constantly monitor the facility. Keep in mind these are the first come first serve sites.

1. gates open 8-8 must arrive before 6 or have to call ahead
2. must keep all four wheels of your vehicle on the asphalt when parked
3. I was told to keep that thing" in the bed of truck (my R), but that doesnt mean I wont fire her up in the bed of the truck.
4. campsites are pretty close together not alot of privacy
5. hot showers are lukewarm-
6. bathrooms are immaculate
7. the trail head is maybe a mile away
8. the nearest market is about 10 miles away (10 minutes)
9. each site has a grill and fire pit
10. Overall nice place but I am not sure it would be the best place to go, if you have more than 5 you need two spots. Too many restrictions.

I am planning on going once between now and Thanksgiving, and will try to find antoher place. The problem is I think spots need to be resevered very soon or could be hard to find one. I suppose you can camp anywhere in the national forest just no amenities. Well that is all I can think of now any questions fire away.

yes you can reserver you camping, we need to coordinate and get adjacent camping spots. you could ride an enduro motorcycle from the camp, but not an atv. I think with tax it was $18.90. Here is a link to the website for reserving a spot.

Holy cow, they are completely full on the reserved sites. You can get the first come first serve as walk up only but as you can imagine no guarantees. I will continue to search. Any locals want to share some knowledge.

Here is an idea. Anybody can camp in the "primitive" national forest for free. I say we set up camp right near the powerlines(where I rode last weekend) and get two rooms at the nearest hotel/motel. Anyone who does not want to camp can stay there and this will provide hot showers (guaranteed hot showers) when done riding. I bet it would cost roughly the same for two days either way. Just a thought. This will also allow us to wake up and ride right to the trails.

You should get there as early as possible there is a good chance the ORV camps will fill fast.

I will be camping and riding the next 2 weekends but over thanksgiving I can only ride sat and sunday(have to work sat night).sky,big scrub does not have showers but they do have bathrooms and water in the campground.there also is a nice area out front for the kids to ride around.scrub is not as nice as alex springs.It is just a field with a few picnic tables but you can ride right from camp.keep in mind that everywhere in the ocala national forest is anti atv .the forest service hates them and views us all as lawbreakers.chevy,I will be riding my secret trails on the 4 and 5 then back up to paisley trails on 11/12 of november.let me know if your riding.there are a couple of private campgrounds south of scrub on 19.I will get there # when I drive by this weekend.they are small but being private there will be less rules.I will try to find a good spot for your gang.I am lucky I only live 50 min away.

My wife was able to get us a campsite at Clearwater Lake. We will be arriving the day after Thanksgiving as our check in is 1:00. Our checkout time is 2:00 so we will be leaving Sunday noon time. I have only ridden paisley and south side of the forest, I want to explore the north side this time. Sky, I will look for a black 250r and an 18ft trailer in big scrub. Good times.

got back last night from camping 2 days at scrub.had a great time.put 110 miles on in 2.5 days of riding.everything ran great,just a broken clutch cable.I had an extra off an 83r that i made work.did not slow me down at all.found some new trails and a pit that was not closed(that surprised me).carried extra gas with me and gave my gps a good workout.wish I could camp this weekend also.I will be riding sat and maybe sunday at scrub or off cr 42 in the lake mack area of the forest.hope to see you guys.

I-75 take the exit for highway 40 and follow that all the way to the forest.. Stay on 40 and you should be fine.. There is a place on 40 on the out skirts of the forest that has some ( don't quote me haha)

I got your PM but this should answer everyones question so I put it here. Yes you need registration & a sticker. To registration you take you bill of sale to the tax collector same place you get plates & pay them. I have not done it yet I am going to go tomorrow on the way if they are open. I am just going to make up a bill of sale. If not I will have a bill of sale with me so I should be ok.

I just talk to Alan(Sky). He is a Big Bass Camp Ground. Big Scrub has been full for a week. It is on the same road(588) as Big Scrub. It is the first camp site on the right. He is in spot S9. He said stay to the right when you get in to the camp ground. If you have any questions give him a call.

I am going to try to make it tomorrow, but I will pry only make it Sunday. I have a major air leak in my 200M.

After I talked to Alan (sykolincoln) this evening and found out how bad the sugar sand was down there I'm unloading and reloading to take my moms 4x4 expedition so I can make it more then 6ft off the road without sticking myself. I talked to Ronnie about an hour ago and he was on his way up there. I'm gonna leave here probably 6:30-7:00 in the morning so I'll be getting down there pretty early. I'll be in that same Big Bass campground with Alan, hopefully close to the same area he is if possible. Hopefully I'll see some of you guys tomorrow.

Friday, I arrive at 11 am, goto big scrub and find out theres no spots to camp, drive back down the dirt rd to Big Bass and set up camp. then drive back to Big scrub to ride (riding area) pull in and proceed to sink my big diesel in the first 30 seconds I'm there, get pulled out and unload and ride till about 4 pm, then try to leave and get stuck again! this time super bad!! all the way down to the bumper! nice, well crazy dude shows up ( weird looking dude in pics) manages to have a buddy w/4x4 and gets me pulled out! we go back to camp, cook, eat, hit the sack, fridays over at 10pm.

Saturday, I wake up early, Billy calls, he shows up, yamahondaman shows up we wait for a buddy of mine to show up (from georgia) but were ready to ride! leave a not for my buddy and leave. Get to big scrub and start unloading, Chevy57harley whatever shows up, and Fla2stroke shows up, we snap a few pics and go riding! hit some trails we arnt suposed to be on, park rangers giving us the EYE had a great time!!! everybody looks at us like were Freaks, wich is a compliment to me,lol! nobody tries us! like they wish any way! so about 5 we pack it up and I manage to get out after some creative driving thanks to the resident weirdo (who was there all day chasing EMILEO ESTAVEZ?! all day on a banshee?wtf? this dudes nuts!) finnaly my buddy shows up from geirgia (he got major lost!! he took off riding well after about 40 mins of riding he manages to bail so hard that he cut his whole body up and almost broke his ankle, enought so that he cant even ride!!!!(drive six hrs, ride 40 mins, crash really hard, go home pissed, PRICLESS!!) well right as we are leaving resident weirdo SINKS his chevy Express van to the ground Up an embankment!!! damn!! so since he helped me out I went back and offed any assistence possible, wich by the way was NONE!, abig f-250 4x4 easily pulled hime right out, so noww finally around 6:30 we make it back to camp, I strike up the fire pit and the grill!! lets EAT!! slaves to inventions, I dont have anything to flip the burgers, so my trusty MACHEDEE<--i know thats not spelled right just prestend it is..... turns into the best damn spatula ever!!! we cook some mean burgers, and some wicked awesome beer basted bruatwurst!!!(thanks billy) we get out food on!! in a serious way!! After that Ronnie and billy decide to go get a room, we decide to follow them (we need showers BAD!! no showers at the campsite) so we proceed to drive around for about an hr or so, honking horns under bridges, stoping in the middle of intersections (lol) scaring the natives, and meating some weirdo at some sleazy motel, finnaly we get a decent hotel and go wash our stank butts, we leave (me,GF,3 little cousins) and go back to camp, I hit the the station and grab me some alcohol, get back to camp, the kids pass out, I drink a few drinks and pass out around 11:30pm SATURDAY IS DONE!

SUNDAY!!!!! I wake up around 8:45,am MAn I slept to wicked awesome it was unreall!!! wait for billy and Ronnie to show up, they get there we wait now for Lonbed (jason) to show he gets there we break camp! we get up to the riding area and unload, well jason Unacustomed to whoops bails in the first 5 mins of riding, lol, now he knows!!! so well all hit the trails, for a while, I start to run loww on premix, and the liitle zuki of mine broke the chain!! so I drain the rest of my R gas so my little cousin could borrow my buddies blaster for a while, so I jsut chill for a few, about 2 everyone leaves except me and longbed, (my gf and cousins drove my Interceptor) so me and jason ride!!!, I drained all the premix out of the blasters to ride my R for a while. well we took off down a wrong path!! ranger RICK cut us off and preceeded to tell us were fixing to get 600 dollars worth of fines!!! but his hands were tired!? so he let us be, I finnaly used up all the gas in the R, so I borrowed the 200m of jasons and we rode and found some really sweet trail, we rode som long in fact that we were the ONLY people left!!! we load up and finally get on the road around 6:30!!! peace out!!! also te resident weirdo was there most of the day as well!! what a nut!

We had a blast, even though there was some wicked whoops there, I still had a great time!!! glad to meet you guys, and ride otu with all of ya, and for the ones who didnt come YOU GUYS MISSED OUT!!!

I took my wife and my buddy to the spot where I had to ride back to (7 miles back up the power lines) and let them tool around a bit. I was not sure what the plan was, my cell phone was dead and I just decided to take it easy and go home after they got to ride my R. I had a blast!! me and longbed (jason) found some sweet trails!! we stayed on one for about 45 mins!!! it was a blast, not that whooped out either!! I probabalyy wont make it down there for a big ride till sometime in the spring when the kids are out for vacation or something were I can do a three day weekend, but I might make it down me and my gf and a few buds for the dec ride,we'll see, maybe my buddy wont wreck out in the first hr of riding again!

yea dont count the numbered rd signs up to 588 other wise you'll be swimming in the atlantic!! ther will be a small sign on the right on hy 42 that says 588 then abotu 1/8 mile on the left is the actuall rd (wide dirt rd) and as soon as you get in you''ll see the sign for big bass

Hmmm yea I been on debates with the 10".. right now I have some 22x10x9's with some stock honda wheels and boy doews it run really nice with them.. I was thinking of grabbing some paddles for these 9" wheels and then some 22" tires again for the 10" wheels instead.. It's a pain in the butt man lol

Hell when we went the rangers were easy didn't even stop us once ( yea we raced right on the strip before the camp ground 2 twice haha) for registration on the bikes but we also were on a regular weekend, not a holiday.. they are 20x11x10's on 10 inch rims, if you have to I will let you borrow the rims with them untill you can get a set of 10's I have a thread in the classifieds for them, but I can sell them to you at a good deal 80 beans for both!! they jsut dont suit the type of riding that I do, they are like new! pics are in that thread as well I would sell rims and tires but those rims arnt cheap!, ask lomax on the boards here about rims he has set me up twice for rims at a decent price! reallll decent!

I took my papers to the DMV today and couldn't get stickers. After doing just about everything minus getting into a fist fight with the lady over the fact that I DON"T HAVE a certificate of origin neither do they require it I left. I'm gonna try going back tomorrow and talking to a supervisor or something.

Go to the Tax Colector's Office, with your VIN numbers and say that you ARE THE ORIGNIAL OWNER of the listed bikes, and would like to apply for a title and off highway sticker.

Tell them there is NO cert of origin, NO title, and that you WANT TO APPLY FOR and PAY FOR one for each bike. You will have to sign an Affidavit of Ownership ---- saying that you are the origin owner and that there is no "bil of sale" and that the bike has not been titled in another state.

That's it.

If your local DMV or Tax office does not do it, Come to Highlands County, and give your buddy Wheelie King a call.:cool: :cool: :cool:

They should have a copy of the rules. I have read a lot of similar stories on Atvflorida. A copy & past below.

A. To issue an original Florida Certificate of Title for a new or used off-highway vehicle
purchased prior to 07/01/02, the following documentation should be submitted to the
tax collector's office to be screened for completeness and accuracy:
1. ONE of the following:
a. A Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (MCO), showing a complete
chain of ownership to the applicant.
b. A bill of sale (must include the year, make and vehicle identification
number of the off-highway vehicle).
c. A notarized/perjury clause affidavit of ownership (must include a
complete description of the off-highway vehicle).

The excuse for the one lady's incompetence was "We don't really do many of those, and only me and another girl know how to do them up." Government efficiencies at its best, office full of 15 or 20 workers and only 2 people can actually do their job :lol:

Ronnie, get yours registered before you come back out so you aint got to worry about the man writing you a ticket for more then the registration costs. All you need is a bill of sale with your name, sellers name, make, model, price, and VIN#. If they give you *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* at the DMV print off that page dreadhead linked to and give it to them.
