Hey, one of my friends has a '85 Tri-Z and was thinking it might have a separate oil from the gears to the clutch, can anyone confirm this?

no ... both the clutch and the tranny share the same fluid...

haahaa yeah i couldn't see yamaha doing something like that, but he thought for sure that he needed clutch fluid and oil...
Kendall Racing 50, is that a 50 weight gear oil?
i use 10W30 with a touch of Lucas pure synthetic (less than 10%) and 10W40 in the winter with the same mix

Kendall or Valvoline 50 wt. Racing oil is Motor oil...work's good in the Tranny..i was told NEVER to use that Lucas stuff in the oil or NEVER use Octain Booster in the Gas .... it messes with the life of the reeds and seals.......

Here's a Picture of what i used in my - Yamaha Tri-Z 250
( for the Trans & Wet Clutch )

Are you guy's using the Same ?

hmm weird lol i have lucas in everything possable damn near, trucks & toys...don't use the booster tho
Truck's,Car's,Lawn Mower's,Etc. .... YES But ATV's ...NO !!! Clutch will slip with POWER...........
Hey Ceaser....... ANYTHING that Say's Valvoline is .................. GOOD !!!
a Machanic Friend of mine said that Valvoline is "re-fined" Discount Auto Part's Oil
But..................... it AIN'T !! ................

lucas recomends 10% full synthetic for wet clutches, i have a little less than that and i highly doubt that it slips.....
i'm not sure what flavor of oil my friend uses, but i'm all about mobile one and castrol GTX

yeah thats what the wally world guys were sayin when i was looking for synthetic for my new 86 Yota 4-Runner, so i have went from castrol to Mobil-1

Mobil - 1 is not that great (cars) , AMSoil and Royal Purple are at the top ...Tryed all 3 , with K&N oil filters ....

Mobil - 1 for ATV i love it 2 stroke synthetic
