View Full Version : Brought my 200M home tonite, first impressions

I picked up my 200M tonite and brought it home.

Again it started on the first pull.
My neighbour filled it with gas, and I managed to have the tank fully washed in gas by the time I got home.

Question 1: This leakage out of the fuel cap could be fixed with a new gasket ?

I noticed that while the motor is great, the machine has a very noticable buzz that runs through the pegs and handle bars at high rpm.

The transmission seems to shift fine, takes a firm jab to shift gears, shifts easier when upshifting than downshifting.

Tires are Wooly Boogers? Did I get that right ? on the rear.
Plenty of tread, and no noticable leaks or weather damage.

Engine is nice and strong, spent some time boogying around the acreage and it seems to pull evenly from idle to full throttle.

So, the only thing I'd like to get some help with, is how to track down and isolate and fix the cause of the high rev vibration.

? Motor Mounts loose, or in need of new rubber bushing (I assume this thing uses some kind of rubber in the motor mounts )?
? Tin cover on the chain drive needs new fasteners, and gasket?
? The tank is a bit loose too, so will check how to cinch it down tighter

The neighbour installed the new brake pads in the rear, now when you use them they tend to lock into position, you have to reach behind and pull back on the lever to unlock them. Is there supposed to be a spring or something that pulls the brake away from the drum, and is mine wore out?

Or is this just a case that the assembly is a bit tight, and it will loosen up with some use?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Lyle.

I had a KLT 200 that had that high speed vibration(high speed for KLT= slow) I went through and tightened every mounting bolt on it and it was like a new machine. Just a thought it might work for ya. Good luck Josh

Thanks....
I'll check it out...
Neighbour promised to deal with the fuel cap leakage ...

By the way, checked more closely and determined that my trike is an 84, so looks like maybe it'll be in need of a 20 th birthday overhaul this winter.

he means it probably starts on the 19th birthday, then continues into the next year.
