I found a 1983 YTM-175 for sale. The guy is asking $400, he says it was and is in great shape except the recoil rope broke 2 years ago and it hasn't ran since. Tell me what you think, here is a picture

It looks in great shape from my point of view. and when he said pull chord broke, does he mean the rope just snapped? or the recoil is broken like parts inside it? because to buy a new rope is very cheap and simple.. keep us posted.

looks pretty clean to me, $400 is a good price for any clean bike.

Yeah the rope simply snapped and he said he didn't want to deal with it. How big of an issue is the 2 years? Simply a carb clean or what?

lol sorry, but that's funny... the pull rope snapped so he gave up, i'm 16 and wouldn't give up with that, it's such a simple fix.

I had one just like that when I was about 16 back in the '80's. I put some lawnmower tires on it and had a blast with it. That is a 2 stroker right? Thats what mine was.
It looks in real good shape. I'd buy it.

What about the issue of it sitting for the past 2 years?

i got news for you it has been sitting for longer than 2 years.

3 wheelers that are in good shape have usualy been sitting for 15 , 20 years,

some one will drag it out time to time and give it a spin. and put it back away.that is good news for you.

the longer they sit the better as far as i am conserned.

so your bike has sit for a few years. you roll it out air up the tires. oil every thing up. drain teh gas out of teh tank pull the tank if you have to and clean it out good. maybe change the oil. remove the carb go through all the jets with a can of carb cleaner. maybe a new plug maybe not, don't mater if it runs .

get that thing. it is classic.
