Just bought another 250R, basically was told it was siezed, and something may be wrong with the tranny. I thought maybe just rock it and unstick it, well it unstuck but felt very gummed up. I pulled the cylinder thinking the piston let go like my other one. Well the piston was fine, but the con. rod bearing on the big end looks hashed. So I imagine the crank bearings got stuff in it too. Im either going to learn all the ins and outs of these darn 250Rs or just dump both of them and stick with my 200X! Sorry for the rant. Jim

Might still be able to make a good deal still, look on ebay and maybe you will find some engine parts that you need for cheap or on here for cheap and still have a nice cheap ride.
ahh dont get discouraged man.get in there and bring that 2 stroke back to life.i know when you get into rebuilding a 20 year old machine that has been raped on,things can look bleek.but do it up and get the satisfaction from a job well done.keep the faith man.

hey, either tear them both apart and build one good one, or send the the engines to one of us who can.

I decided the heck with it. and put them both in the classifieds, and craigslist. If I make my money back Im just going to go get a cowl hood for my el camino. Or just finish my 396 chevy. Jim

learn it inside and out. 2 stroke engines are the simplest engine to rebuild/work on.
ive learned by working on sleds that the 2 strokes parts are cheaper than 4 stroke. but thats on sleds i really dont know about atvs/atcs.

So I was up to midnight last night pulling motor, and stripping it down, Im down to splitting the case. If I can find a cheap crank and rod assy, maybe on ebay I may just put it back together. I had a guy that wanted to buy the thing for $200 bucks, but when you really start adding up the parts, and seeing how I do have another 250R and a 200X this thing may be worth more in parts to myself then the $200 dollars Id get for it. and the motor had been bored in the past to .50mm and the other one is already at 1.5mm.
