$2,000 should get you a banshee in decent condition, it will around here anyway.
Why do you want a banshee?

cause the ol 200x just doesnt have enough umph to it... ive ridden my friends banshee quite a few times before and i like the power it has, im not lookin for a drag bike or anything like that, just a stock one, or slightly modified

I will agree with smokin...they constantly go for around that on ebay. I have been watching lately.

doesnt seem like that bad of a price, 1500-2000.... hopefully its worth it, do they run good? i heard theat they have a bad reputation for, well, chitting out.... im not looking for showroom quality.... all my stuff is ANYTHING but a trailer queen.... they get rode and get dirty, i could handle some cracked fenders or something cosmetic,.... i just want something strong and reliable.... the only reason i say anything about the rep they have is ive heard about a lot of people getting theirs fixed down at our local shop.... its probably just some idiots who take their quads past their own riding capabilites..... i really like the overall feel of them though, now if i could just get rid of my x......

I hear alot about people always blowin the motor on the banshee's, i've road them and they are alot of fun zoomin around compared to my 4 stroke, but I wouldn't put alot of $$$ into one.

my thoughts exactly.... of course i wouldnt put a lot of money into anything.... i figure theres always gonna be someone faster than me, so i'll put in what i want, and have fun with it.... and u mean that 700r isnt fun??? i'd take that over my x ANY day of the week

The 700R is a blast to ride, funner than anything else. But it's always fun to try something different here and there to laugh abou it. I had the biggest grin on my face kick startin a banshee and zoomin around like a weed wacker. It scared me at first ridin the 700R cuz it's got so much power but now it's like "eh" ....im so used to, i always shift up when im topped out hopin there is another gear, lol....i want more speed, but compared to anything else....I will always choose mine.

ive never ridden a 700, i got to try out a 660r a while back, this was back when the fastest thing i owned was an 85 250sx.... needless to say, it was a fast and fun ride.... are there any other quads out there that are pretty fast, and about the same price range?

We have owned 4 or 5 of them.We have never blown one up.Just have to know how to set them up right.I think the only problems we have had with them is one, cdi box went out,and keeping clutches in them. They tend to eat up clutches. If it looks ragged out, stay away from it.If it looks nice and in your price range, find out how many bores it has had.If it is only on the second or third bore, then someone took care of it.We get about 2 -3 years out of a top end on ours.93-98 seemed to have the least problems.Dont ask me why.87-89 had stronger(faster) motors.

see, i dont really want to replace stuff that often, im not hard on my stuff, or ride that frequently, maybe a banshee isnt for me.... what can i get for 1000-2000.... i know its kind of a broad answer field, but a quad would suit my style of riding TONS better than my x... i just chose a banshee to start my search cause i heard that they can decent trail machines...

Banshees are known for the cranks going out of phase. I have a 96 and love it. I payed 2200 for it and a month later the crank went on me. I got a new one for about 560. It's a hot rod crank. Other than that i've had no problems with it. I do plan on buying a 2001 or newer.

350cc four stroke with e start and reverse.
Around here you can buy late 80's-early 90's models for $1,000-$1,500 that are very nice.
for that price range you could pic up a decent R or even a quad racer (not trx250R<-gold right there!) I like banshees 2 but I dont want to deal with buying 2 of everything when I want to "fix" it up, Warriors are old lady quads, their just a rolling couch! but they run that price range as well. good luck
