We'll I finally got started on the teardown of the wife's 200x (racer X). Some of you may remember it from the drags at TF-06. After getting it all the way down and inspecting a few things I noticed a shift fork way wore out and a washer almost non existant. Those parts got replaced so I hope that fixes the fifth gear issue.
Now to the performance mods. The crank is modified. Looks like it's larger in diameter and the rod is connected a little further to the outside. The rod has been ground on the sides of the main shaft and it has also been shaved on the bottom where it mounts to the crank so it will clear the gears.
The jug has been resleaved and the head has been ported. The cam is way larger than stock and the valves are also larger than stock. The springs look aftermarket also. As far as specs on all these mods, I have no idea. I do have a few pics though.
Now for my questions..... How do I set up the timing when I reinstall the cam and cam chain. This I definately need help with.
Pics in next thread.

Holy crap... A little stroker motor eh? Get the numbers off the top of the piston and start digging around for info, you'll quickly find out exactly what it is!

First two pics are of stock piston and the rest are the piston for the racer.
Not sure of make or size. If anyone can read the numbers on it or recognize it please post.

It is a wiseco piston, stock bore 10.25:1 compression.

timin?-- top dead center cam lobes down- "valves closed"
in the fire stroke-200x?
the pulcer is fixed on the cam- this needs to be at the fireing point-
just like a car motor-- top dead center- valves closed, fire from ignition
the head looks as if it could be opened up some more-
what cam is it?
i used a 89a from web it sounds, and performs good

that piston is a wiseco 10.25:1,,, standard bore 65mm but heres the kicker that # is for a atc 200 81-85 not a 200 x ,,,but the rings are the same as a 200 x std. bore.. hope that helps,,, looks like they orderd the a 200 piston when they sleeved it and bored it, just wonder what the diffrence in the two pistons are? wonder if that sleeve is for a 200 also?;)

the atc 200 and 200x share the same piston from wiseco and the same sleeve. The 200x just has a different factory piston to give it more compression. The '86-'87 piston is different.

Thanks for the info. Is this correct? I put flywheel on tdc and cam lobes down. Cam chain sprocket had a mark on it (a small o) so I lined it up with the tdc mark on the flywheell, lined up the cam with the sprocket and bolted it all up. Can someone confirm.
Also had a few small things done to the motor while it was down. Not saying though. It seems the guy here at our small local shop worked on these things back in the 80's and knows a few things about hoppng them up. :w00t:

Hey Mate,
There is an index mark on the head just above the cam sprocket. The cam lobes need to be pointed down and the "o" on the cam sprocket needs to be lined up with this index mark. Yes, piston needs to be at tdc.

Yea. It's all back together. Runs great. Shifts through all gears. Makes my 350X run and hide. What info ya lookin' for? I'll try to get a few short vid clips up sometime.
