i've been thinkin of making my 350x into a flat tracker.Has anyone ever done this is it good for flat trackin. i think it would be pretty good with the torque and the sheer speed of the 350x..let me know wat you guys think

Personally I think a 4 stroke 3-wheeler and flat track don't mix. Just too much traction to keep it sideways and screamin. Seems to me like it would want to push awful bad. I know there was a local kid on a 350X at our track that would always float into the haybails trying to turn.

I don't see why not.. NOS350X has done it. I would't do the same thing as he but whatever. I mean, if you keep the 350 LOW and put some 18in tamers on it and keep the wheels spinning, I don't think you will have a problem. You will probably need to keep the motor revving HARD throughout the race. It would be easier to flattrack a 250R for sure...But hey! 400ex's do it, so why not a 350x?

Well, a 400EX has an extra wheel which just so happens to be located on the outside front corner of the machine. This totally changes things. Now you have a wheel you can actually load and force into the dirt to steer. On a 3 wheeler your steering with the rear end drifting. If you get too much traction (which is most likely the case with a 350X) you have no way of steering. So you'll find yourself on and off the throttle to steer which causes major havoc in a 4th gear drift.

Again this is just my opinion and I have limited flat-track experience. I just feel that a 2-stroke trike is better suited.

Nothing looks tougher than a slammed trike with some smoothies on the back, and I know back in the day they were racing 200X's etc. so it can be done.

Good luck with your project.

I think a 4 stroke 3 wheeler could be real effective on a flat track. You could run lower on the track & nose In front of the 2-stroke going Into the turn's. Then the torque of the 4 stroke will pull you (traction) off the turn. You would have to change your riding style & make sure you don't have a real sticky tire, but I think It could work sweet. On a 2-stroke you blow the tires off to turn. A 4-stroke you could power slide sideway's a gear higher using a little throttle then just launch off the turn.

I agree with Derek. I have ridden 2 and 4 stroke 3 and 4 wheelers on flat track. You definitely ride them differently and the setup for each is completely different. You rely on the torque of the motor to pull you through the turn. When properly set up, the new 450R is unbelievably fast on the track. The fastest 4 strokers out there are guys that gave up on the "2 stroke rev it and slide it" and went with the "I can't believe how much traction this thing gets" approach. Instead of drifting it around the track, you drive it around the track. You can not replicate that on a 3 wheeler.

Sure, you can set up 350X for flattrack. Would it be the fastest guy out there?...Unfortunately, no.

Thats really interesting information. Good to know, and I'm not even asking the question. Thanks!
