Just a few more pics of my 85 tecate. I am not sure what kind of swingarm it is other than it is a +2 aftermarket. It i a very nice piece that was extremely hard to find. More than a year searching. The guy i bought it off of said it was either a westcoast of franks. I tracked down some westcoast decals and used them for the old school look. Recently though i saw an ad in a 1984 dirt wheels mag for Franks tecate parts and this arm looked exactly like the one pictured. Maybe you know? My first love was motocross and grew up on yellow yz 80s 100s and 125s. I still enjoy riding my 84 yz250 when possible, but it hard to find time. This is a pic of me at a local sunday race with all of the new bikes. I love being the underdog. Amazingly this bike still keeps up with the current 450s on straights, i just dont have the ba*** i ust to have, the jumps look bigger than they did when i was younger. If my powervalved 86 tri-z puts out power anything like this bike it will be downright dangerous. I can only wait and hope.:w00t:

Love the Tecate!!

Tell me what kind of temperature gauge is that? Looks cool and functional. Did you piece it together or did it come just like that? What kind of temps do you see when you're running the Tecate hard?

Just curious, I'd like to have a set-up like that on my Tecate.

Very nice Tecate. Your swingarm is a Franks piece. Where did you get that temp gauge?

This was built by me 100% From the reproduction frame stickers to the z400 brakes,to the 300ex rear shock, to the silencer that i had to hand fit and assemble form a blank from DG. I was able to get a new pipe last year but no silencer. So after all fitting was done i had it all tig welded and works perfect. I have done many custom tweaks and mods to get it right. This winter i have a bunch of tricks to complete on this t3 that will surely give a few 450s fits. I mostly ride it at silver lake, Mi so it will end up being more sand oriented as time goes on. In the hot summer sand at silver lake it never went over 155 degrees. I thought that was pretty good. It is an esr billet gauge.

You definately have bikes to be proud of. I have a +2 Westcoast on my '84 Tecate, so I would definately say Franks on your swingarm. The Westcoast has an aluminum bolt on shock mount that says "Westcoast on it. Any aftermarket extended swingarm is a very nice piece to have.:Bounce

Excellent shape Franks first generation swinger on that 85 T3. The Franks first generation swinger, (2 types of Franks Swingers were made for the first generation Tecate), was engineered with a square tubing exterior with rear center oval tubing for swingarm integrity. The Franks second generation swinger was engineered with 100% oval tubing. All Franks swingers were powercoated Blue w/ Yellow Franks logo on each side.

A friend of mine was restoring a 84YZ250, I agreed to let him keep it in my dad's garage until he got a few more parts. At the time I was in the process of moving to my new apartment. Well, after I had been out for 3 weeks, my dad's house burned down. The YZ was unrecognizable,it also claimed a 93 300EX that I had been restoring along with a TRI-zinger that my brother had bought for my niece.
Not really relavent to the thread, just thought I would share.

Found some pics, this was my 300EX before and after the fire, you can see what's left of the TRI-zinger sitting in front of it. The YZ was off to the side but there wasn't even enough left to take a pic of, I've never seen anything melt that badly.
