Its very depressing if they cannot sell those. That would be like a chinese ATC torture prison camp, where the bikes are ripped apart and put back together on a weekly basis.

Inform the good man how much the school could make off selling those to collectors, it would be more then enough to buy some other adaquate bikes to torture! Just leave the trikes alone for gods sake! :(

well from a georgia state law, anything that is used or donated to a state funded school, is in fact state property, and can be sould ONLY to other state institutions, when I was in school we had a brand new 99 firebird ta vert, that was wrecked in the front, with 5 miles, the motor was brand new!! well if we fixed it, it could either stay at the school forever fixed or sold for scrap!! well... long story short it was missing almost everythign by the time I left the program!, I swear I didnt take anything. the automotove class had only brigs and straton motors to tear into, no cool quads or trikes to pirate there

team-red-rider
11-30-2006, 08:26 PM
idk if its state funded or not

Hey Teeksoffroad, There were actually 87 Tecate 3's that were still in factory crates, I actaully heard this at the forum so I wounldn't doubt it being possible because I know in canada they made ATC 250r's until like 89 or so..

team-red-rider, We definetly need some pictures though because it does sound off the wall.. IF you go and buy all 10 of these ( if in fact they do exhist) you'll have more then 95% of the people hating you on here lol

Oldsking, listen to yourself. You know in crate Tecate 3's are real because you HEARD it. There were no pictures on the forum. And you "know" they made ATC's in Canada to like 89 or something???? Yeah, that sounds like you KNOW. I thought it's been said on this forum that it's 88 but you KNOW. Dude, what kind of answer is that ? These bike do not exist. These bikes do not exist

if this is true then these people should be shot for even thinkin of tearing apart a brand new trike and having some kid that knows nothing about trikes and there put it back together. this makes about as much sense as wipping before you poop. some people are just born stupid

They did actually just un crate an 87 T3 at a Kawasaki 20 year Team Green convention thing a couple months ago.

A friend i grew up with went to Wyoming Tech after high school in 91 and called me to tell me that his class had atc 250r and atc 350x engines. Complete, just as Honda instructed the dealers all over the country on a certain way to remove them. Ask yourself this, why would Honda donate complete running machines to a school where (kids) are going to be working on them? Their reason for the demise was to prevent further injury to idiots. Engines were donated to various tech schools as were many parts. But complete running machines, NO WAY. Honda was trying to save their name and would in no way give these to kids to (test ride) at school.

Yea exactlly that's what I thought I read about on here.. hmmm having some 87-88 atc R's brand new would be insane to come across if this kid is actually telling us the truth :pics:

Now the question I would be asking if these trikes are really whats in the crates, is where was Honda storing them and, are there more? :naughty:

team-red-rider- what you should do when you go to take pictures is try to find out where those trikes were shipped or came from. Id be willing to bet if these are late model trikes that if we can find out where they came from there will be more and maybe a bunch of parts?? It wouldnt hurt to try.

Maybe Ill become homeschooled and take an auto class and write Honda asking for ''donations'' of those old three wheeled things. Im sure they send me one!!! :D

I wish i could remember his user name, Pete UK? or something like that has been tracking down a bunch of 87 250R parts lately, so right now I have more reason to believe there is at least a small number of them out there than none at all.

Also, people keep saying if they were out there someone would have posted it by now. This site is big and its growing everyday, but the fact that its growing at this rate should tell us that there are still a bunch of trikers out there that havent found it yet. We think everyone in the world is online, but its definlty not true. There a bunch of people still out there that dont use the internet at all or enough to know this site exists. they could be famers or country type people with machines tucked away in barns for the last 20 years, who knows. Sorry to rant hope I didnt come across as a jerk, I just think its still a definite possibility thats all

When I went to high school ( many years ago) our school had a 67 Plymouth Fury that was donated to the school because it was wrecked before it was sold. The auto shop used it for practice. I think they may still have it. I don't think it was ever out of the building.

I was about to say the same thing. A simple call is all it would take to clear this up! I doubt they are complete machines. I see 'crates' everyday at work, but they are full of adult undergarments.

Man, some of you guys are so thick headed. Honda does not have ANY bikes stored anywhere. Why are they paying for bikes to be restored for thier museum if they already have them ? Why aren't they in the museum ? Use your head.

hey, okay, two things. one, get the/a shipping tag, info, or a pic of shipping tag. find out where the stuff was shipped from, may not be the only thing stored there. two, read the 87 tecate article very carefully, shipped from museum for celebration. now if you can find where the honda stuff was shipped from, it can be checked out. I know a gentleman in cali that drives a trash truck, chrysler plant on his route, got a viper block out of the dumpster one time, also other misc. oops, make that three, the magic number!!!

i got a pair of new bolt cutters i haven't used yet...could try them out...crates with 86 or 87 trike motors is still worth a but load of money.....I am a second year student at BOCES auto tech and we cars donated to us all the time. We have cars donated to us all the time in our lot we have 2006 dodge durango, 2004 ss monte carlo, 2005 escort , 2002 neon, 2003 mercury something, 3 Vans, 4 cars and 3 other trucks. we cant sell anyparts, steal anyparts, trade parts, it cant leave the property. it sucks we have an 87 ss monte carlo , with custom rims, and custon fit 427, and has 2 miles on it. we dissasemble the vehicles, and cut them up in 4inch by 4inch squares. And the school sells it to the scrap yard. its sickning, the 2004 monte cralo ss is next on the list, its never seen pavement.

A friend mine went to MMI in florida, he worked on crate 85 and 86 atc250r motors and 350x motors, but never saw a actual bike, just the motors. In fact, he left with 2 of the 250r motors, never touched. I want to see pictures to truly believe what you say. I can believe the motors, but the rest was junked abotu 20 years ago. I know some of the atc250r and atc350x rear ends went to burguard atv. For many years the big name racers used crate 250r and 350x motors, the 250x racers got the 350x rear ends. I seriously doubt honda kept crate atc's and why would they still make a atc in 88????? Yes, they sold them, but they were basically 87 utility models with different graphics. If you look the trx200x, is almost identical to a 87 200x frame, with a factory 3-4 kit, I read somewhere that honda used all their 86/87 200x frames, motors, and related parts to build it too. To honda even the mention of atc or 3 wheeler is horrible, it brings back bad thoughts.
Yes, honda does one of every 3 wheeler they ever sold, but they use them for the many lawsuits they got/get about atc's. They present them in court to show the warning labels and what a good condition atc should look like. As many of the lawsuits probably involved a bad condition bike to begin with and riding double, no helmets, etc, which to warning labels say not to do.

Hey Kid. Describe those "crates"you said you saw. Were they all wood with Honda painted on them ? Metal ? What did they look like ? What was approx size and what was the color ?

its like a metal (i think steel) frame with like paper or canvas over it kinda like a tent
