I have DISH, because cable is not offered where we live, and the only local channel is by antenna which is not good. It seems that congress passed a law that prohibits satellite 'local' channels. This morning I had CBS, NBC, and FOX like usual, tonight, NOTHING!!! I'm PISSED to say the least! Good FOOTBALL games tomorrow and I CAN"T WATCH EM!!!

Anyone else know anything about this?!

I have no problem with them either. Good price, great service. This is not their fault.

Can you get the networks right now on your TV?

If so, do they all come out of Atlanta? Major networks may still be available on satellite as your 'local' channels.

I guess it only affects DISH. Looks like I'll have to switch to DirectTV!

I have heard about this; however, I still have my network channels as of now on the DISH. However, I do have all of my networks coming out of New York as opposed to affiliates from my local area... either way, this is just another example of the government going retarded on us.

Go FTA, then you wont have to worry about anything. I even hear you can program them to pick up DISH ;)

We've got dish and get local channels but I think we had to pay an extra $5-10 a month for them or something.

What??? If its a local station then all you have to do is unplug it from the back of the tv and hook up an antenna. Problem solved. Of course you can't just push a button and do it the lazy way. But hey, if its a good game then its worth getting off the couch, going across the room and changing the wire/channel to see it I think. Its not like you have to walk 100 yards with the players to see the touchdown. Its only what? 10-20 feet if you have a big living room.

haha. That would be great, but we don't have that luzury here. On antenna, the only channel is a local ABC, with poor reception. No NBC, CBS, or FOX is available by antenna. No cable is offered either. There are 1000's in my area that will be affected. DirecTV will be getting a call from me today. I'm going to have to go to the office this afternoon (in town) just to watch the HOGS and FLORIDA battle! O, and it's not a laziness issue either.

What's FTA?

FTA stands for free to air. If i am understanding this right companies that advertise on these channels will pay more for the more people that watch. All of these television companies have been paying the cable companies and satelite companies ( thats right we pay them and so do the channels ) this is done ton increase there viewing area. Then FTA came about and they no longer have to pay the cable and satelite companies to air. They can do it themselves for a 1/4 of the cost that they were paying the satleite companies and have more viewers and get more money out of the advertisements. Do a search on it. I have found that i can get discovery, comedt central and a whole slew of HD channels. But i still have not found anyone that has done this yet and am not going to spend the money till i know how good it is. I have free cable so i am in no hurry.

Well, if you want to pick up DISH with a FTA, buy a viewsat extreme, upgrade the software, and you're good to go. DISH does autorolls of the keys every other day but the software can determine to numbersand enter them in for you automatically. If you want more info, PM me and I can send you to a site that explians it all... but don't buy anything from there, to expensive.
