My buddy at JMC Racing has some old DG stock and found some reed kits for the 86/87 Tecate,i haven seen it yet but i guess its an upgrade on the stock reeds.

i put a boysen kx250 cage and reeds on mine. dont let the fact that it is a tecate make you use 20 year old parts. there are lots of things that you can do to make it rip!!!

83,84,85, 86 are all straight ones, many others will bolt up but you have to ditch the airbox. Not a big deal unless you ride in a swamp. Also maybe check the 125's, 500's, and kdx's you might be surprised, maybe try cross-referencing reed gaskets

The 500 will not work, its angled. Only real choice that I know at the moment is the Tecate piece.

boyseen reeds,.. 87 quadzilla and 86-87 tecate 3 and 4 are the same part number, what is in my zilla is carbon fiber reeds for the the tecate
I talked to Corey Sprock about the intake problem. I pitched an alum design w/ a rubber boot to the carb. Or a stock rubber intake. He did not seen to think it would be to hard of a part to have made up. I have not talked to him recently but I think w/ enuff interest he might look into this for us T3 guys.

The aluminum intake idea sounds sweet. kinda like the external part of a Boyesen Rad valve, but with the proper dimensions for the airbox. I have thought about this, but I dont have the resources right now.

A guy over at the Pilot/Odyessy forums,Steve Bishop aka Livewire does straight intakes for the buggies so i assume its a doable thing for the Tecate with the right equipment.

I bought a new Tecate boot two years ago at the dealer, didn't have a problem.
