Well, she (ok, I!!!) couldn't wait till her birthday for her gift, so I let her open her helmet first. Unsatisfied, I HAD to give it to her NOW! She LOVES IT!
It was after dark, but it didn't matter to her.

And then we had to bring it inside, so she could 'ride it' while we watched TV, and a photo shoot, LOL.

Here she is already trying to open up the airbox and re-jet! GIT IT RAG!!!

Cold weather the next few days, but that won't matter to her, she's rareing to go!

Travis, How old is she... and what kind of helmet did you get her? My kid is 4 and I need to find a helmet that's light enough for her. For the short time she rode, she used a Dora bike helmet. She may be ready for 2 wheels by summer.

Thanks guys.
Trump, I got the helmet from Dennis Kirk, I'll try to send ya a link. It's a small, but when she gets bigger, all I buy is a bigger liner and don't have to replace the helmet shell. They sell small, med, and large liner systems.

Right on !!! - I am selling one of my 70s to a buddy of mine for his 21 month old for Christmas this year. Although I think it may be half for him - he will teach her as time progresses. All kids should have a 70!
i am building my daughters right now. i am hoping to start teaching her by 2.

Went great. She did alot better than I thought she would. I had to back the throttle stop out more than I thought I would, because it was hard for her to push against the stopper. She regulated the gas very well. We have plenty of time to practice and learn. She's a great listener and picks up stuff quick. She really loves it, but what 5 year old wouldn't!!! I didn't get my first quad till I was 24! My first ride was when I was about 10 on a new 86 Big Red, but only maybe 5 minutes. Was raised around them, but never had my own till I was an adult. Hmm, I need to find that old 86, I'm sure the guy still has it sitting out in the barn, maybe get it for cheap! My first ride!

Yeah, it's cold. 30 degrees and 20 degree wind chill. We only rode about 30 minutes, she got cold, hell I did too. It was awesome, we fed the horses hay, she followed me on the Big Red with her 70, I wish I woulda had a video of that!
Tonight wind chill in single digits.

You can get pink plastic for a 70. She would like it
TravEX
12-07-2006, 11:08 PM
Yeah, we're talking about pink plastic (http://www.dratv.com/atfefi.html) and white tank with pink decals or flames, maybe a custom seat cover from Moshman. What color would we paint the forks? White? Sure wouldn't wanna try to match the pink?
How much did you pic the 70 up for if you dont mind me asking. Im looking for one, not really sure what they are worth. Thanks.
ATC-Eric

I think White would go good on the forks.
Can she start it herself?

12-08-2006, 06:44 PM
i gave 200.00 for this one...which i thought was about the goin rate...dunno..which it need some things too..
TravEX
12-08-2006, 06:49 PM
He was asking $400, but I traded some stuff for it.
No, she can't start it by herself yet. Probably soon though.
I gotta fix the steering stem stopper thingy, it has bent the tank from hitting the tank when you turn the handlebars all the way left or right. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I wanna see some riding shots!!! I can't wait to have kids. My gf says they won't ride 3 wheelers, and i was like, heck no woman, they'll ride what they're comfortable on and if 3 wheels is it then thats what they get. lol

If the steering stop tab is still attached to the frame, you can use a hand sledge and beat it back down stright. The weld a piece of key stock to the frame and neck to keep it from bending back up.

ATCnut, that's what I was thinking. While welding, so I need to unhook anything on the trike to keep from frying something electrical? Thanks.
ATCnut
12-10-2006, 04:21 PM
No worries about the electrical. That system is so simple it will be OK. I have had to strighten the stop tab on all of my 70s.

After checking out her riding outfit, you just have to get her pink plastic.
TravEX
12-10-2006, 10:19 PM
LOL, yeah, that's next. We like the pink plastic from DR ATV, and we may paint the forks and tank and maybe hubs a darker pink than the pastic, so we don't have to try to match it perfectly. What do ya think about that?
She wants a complete MX pink riding gear, but I don't wanna spend that much on something she'll not be able to wear next year. I would rather put the $ in a pink 70.
