My 86 200x axle will not stay in place. Whenever I make a sharp turn or whip it around, the axle will slide over to the left. Do you think I would need a part? the pin keeps popping out allowing the axle to move over. please help. feel free to ask me more questions. thanks!

Are you talking about the c clip on the axle that holds on the 2 nuts? If thats it you might need a new clip, or a new axle.

yes, that's the clip I'm talking about. I have a spare axle, but it is slightly bent(ever so slightly). How would I know which one to replace?

The clip might just be worn out and is not seating right. If thats the case I would just get a new clip. If that dosent work my guess would be the groove for it is worn out.

ya, first I'll try to get a clip. anyway, I was cleaning it today and afterwards gave it a good spraydown with some wd-40. Now my kickstarter is loose and will stick out when I'm riding and poke me in the leg. Is there anyway to tighten this?

another question, I have a small oil leak and just to fix it for now, I need something silicone-like that can resist heat from the engine to plug up the hole. Do you guys know of anyhting I could use, possibly something I could pick up at my local auto parts store? thanks!

Wheres the oil leak at? Its really easy to just replace the gasket though, but the left side case on a 200x is a really complicated gasket. But if your sure you can fix it just ask for some gasket sealer. Im sure any auto store would have some.

you know there is a keeper that goes over the clip - right??????

Look at my sketch. se the clip keeper? do you have it on your axle? my 86 came without one when I bought it from a guy. I am guessing you are missing this part.

Also - look at item #15 from the bikebandit picture.

Tim, Can you post a pic of that keeper?

Gazoo - I am making one - just turning it down in a lathe, but it has a "C" shaped profile. It actually goes out over the clip. Once the clip is seated in the groove, this fits snuggly over the clip. Without it, the clip can just pop right out. WIth it over the clip, the clip can not expand out of the groove, thus holding it in. See my sketch.

If that part looks just like the one in your drawing, than I don't have one. the one in the bike bandit model looks just like a thick washer, which is what mine has right now. Where did you get yours/where can I get mine?

Rass-

AGAIN.....I do not have this part......I am going to make one. Please see an actual picture I have attached. The retaining ring is just DRAWN IN - it is not real. I think this part is still available thru Honda - but do not know 100% As I mentioned before. I am going to make one. the ID will be a little larger than the axle, then step up to be a little larger than the clip - like 1/8" larger - just a snug fit. The OD can be any size, but I will make mine about .25 larger than the axle. The length will be about .25 inches.

Well I don't know where to get one, but if it is not too hard to make them, I would be happy to buy one from you. If it is too much trouble, don't worry about it, I'll figure something out. Also, can anyone give me a recomendation on what kind of motor oil to use. I used to use mobil 1 synthetic 5w-30 in my old quad, but was wondering if I should use a different oil for my X. thanks!

well, I fixed the axle problem, but now I have the bike completely apart as I plan to repaint everything. I have been thinking of what color scheme to use and I would like to do the frame white and the air scoops blue, this way there is no red showing. but I was wondering, do you think I should paint it this way or should I keep it oem colors?any other ideas? will post pics as soon as I figure out how to use my damn camera.

if your kick starter is still flinging out, i have the solution.... if you have an old harddrive or computer laying around, tear open the harddrive and pull out the magnets.. they are very strong.. or a speaker magnet will suffice... take some sand paper and rub the BACK of your fender where the indent is for the kick starter, and then PLASTIC WELD the magnet fast.. so when your kick starter hits the fender, it will be held....

or if yours still has the little rubber thing on the fender, just tuck a magnet behind it...

hey thanks, I never thought of that.If I can find a magnet I will try that! Anyone have any ideas on my color scheme?
