TIme for new tires....i got all types of holes in my stock ones and time to get some 6 plys. I went to the local Yammy shop and found some tires called Gnarlys....if thats spelled right and the mudlights, both 6 ply 20x10x9's....im leanin toward the Gnarlys for the tread pattern so I can throw roosters all over my friends....mudlights seem to be overkill w/ the V lugs. What do yall think ?

http://www.itptires.com/pdfs/itpmudliteweb.pdfThe XXL only comes in the 30" tire. Im not a big fan of mud tires on a sport quad but i think the 20" mudlite SP would work great.

I'm thinkin the same, it would look great, but not sure on the ride w/ those huge lugs, I like to ride wheelies down roads alot....I don't want to have a bumpy ride.....not sure how they would ride. The other tires I'm lookin at are a mix betwwen RAZR's and trac stars sotra. Never heard of them before, they have neon green and yellow letters on the side....Gnarlys or somethin

Razors are great tires, they can come in a 6 ply too.

Kenda Knarlys. Nice tires.
The SP (sorry, my mistake on the XXL's) would have about the same lug height as the Knarlys.
I have agressive mud tires on my Tecate trike and you don't notice the bumps when you wheelie.

This time of year is a seasonal thing....so I want the best traction and mud throwing tire of these two....so what would yall get ? the super deep lugged mudlite that'll throw roosters like it's cool or the knarlys that I hear good things about. I can't decide ! I have till friday though, that's when I'm takin my rims in to get either mounted.

If you ride in any kind of rocky terrain or areas with sharp edges, stay away from mudlites.
The side walls are paper thin. This is how they make a 6 ply so light. Only the treads are 6 ply. i ended up with 3 tires with holes in the side walls over 4 rides! Itp replaced one tire for free. Needless to say i wasnt about to buy another 2.
unless you ride in sand or mud only, stay away from mudlites.
a better choice would be kenda bear claws.
i now have itp hole shots xct's with no problems for 2 years!
i like these

i have these gators and they grip like a SOB

i forgot to add that 4atvtires.com will have free shipping and be delivered to your door the next day. they are a great place to buy from. here's a pic of the gators i have on my 200shttp://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c162/jsparrow97/LAanddambee091.jpg
60bucks a peice. hard to beat, and they are tough. i had 2 leaking back rims, and these tires wouldn't leave me stranded down the trail when they went flat. rode them 1 mile or more on several occasions back to the camp to air them up. Lets just say i got me some new back rims:lol:
good luck

I was also curious to ask y the mudlights were so light, I held them both in my hand and they were lighter, thanks for the info. I guess I'll try out Kendas....more all around pattern anyway and are fully 6plyed, I'll post pics when i get them on the weekend.

I too have been looking at the Trac Stars, ITP claims its the first 6 ply radial sport tire. That should be one tough long lasting front tire. I am not crazy about the rears but the fronts look BADASS! Have you noticed the tread pattern looks like Summit Racing's "S"??? Nothing could be wrong with ITP's they claim they are the #1 ATV tire!:D
devildog_0431
12-13-2006, 03:59 PM
ITP Trac Stars were the first tire I thought of gettin, I looked at the rears and thought they would wear quickly, I like the fronts. For fronts I'll get those Stars or RAZR 2's.......for the rear it won't be razr's....too much lug for me, who knows I may change my mind one day but for now the Kenda's will do. Those Fast Trekkers are buffed though, I want a clean lookin tire. But what a steal, 2 rears for $78 shipped, nice price.

I think that on a sport quad you might want a lighter tire. Like the mud lite, just for wheel speed to help it self clean. and you wont lose low end power from heavy or taller tires.
devildog_0431
12-14-2006, 08:41 AM
I'm stickin w/ the 20's....I see alot of people go up to 22's on quads, too much tire, I don't wanna loose any power, I know taller will give some more top end and clearance but that's not important to me. The more I look at the mudlights I keep thinkin how cool they look and how much mud I could shoot all over my friend w/ them :) It's so hard to choose !

Today I went and Got the ITP Mudlites put on the quad. The 20's were sold over the weekend so I settled for the 22 in Mudlights, they were $20 cheaper too, good deal. They took them in the back and mounted them and I ordered 2 new keys and stuff while I waited, then when he rang me up he said "$39.95 Sir"....I'm thinkin "Oh yea...free tires....Get it RAGGGG !" Then I thought about it and told him he hadn't charged me for them then it came out to like $180, LOL....they would've figured it out sooner or later if they forgot to charge me for em. But I got some extra clearance now and some huge mud lugs, I'm gonna go tear up some mud now cuz these new tires are much too clean right now and need a proper break in, pics in a day or too. Time to go throw some roosters, been rainin for 2 days now :)

Just got back from the 1st ride on the mudlites and "WOW"....these things have hella grip and throw some mean rooster tails. I couldn't get stuck in anything, usually i get stuck all the time w/ the stock tires and ridin wasn't fun, now it's fun cuz i can go alot more places and tear up some mud. They also ride pretty smooth too and gave me 2 inches more ground clearance.

LOL....my raptor sits higher in the rear, looks mean cuz the rear tires are bigger in the rear than the fronts are, like a buggy sorta, they are 1 in wider than the stock, good wide footprint. Well I was gonna take a pic of her covered in mud today after the ride but I just had to wash my baby, after all she's worth alot and doesn't need mud froze to her overnite, I'll take pics tomorrow cuz I left it locked up in my boss's garage for tonite. It's parked next to my boss's LTR450....he has 18in tires, mine look massive next to his, LOL....u know I should get some vids of the roosters these babies throw !

Im getting Douglas Rattlesnake Rims and Maxxis Big Horns for the King Quad. I was thinking you would like them for your Raptor. The pics do them no Justice. I saw a Grizzly with them and I swear the lugs were over an inch tall. They are also a favorite of the GNCC racers. The Mudlites are a good tire and you should enjoy them. I just dont like the pattern compared to the Deep Lugs on the Big Horns. I feel sorry for anyone who gets behind you with those tires. They will get some serious clumps of mud in their face for sure. Good luck and enjoy.
Oh Yea I am getting the rim and Tire kit from ATV TIRES PLUS, a seller on E-Bay. I was refered to him from a couple of people on NYRIDERS.COM. They had nothing but good things to say about him and he beat the dealers price by almost $300.
Heres what he had to say and delivery takes less than a week.:w00t:
THESE ARE FACTORY BRAND NEW, I DON'T CARRY ANY SECONDS OR BLEMS.
THE KIT WITH THE RATTLESNAKE RIMS WILL BE 635.00 DELIVERED

I was thinking of the Motosport Climax rims in the second thread but I think they may be too blinging for my Green King Quad. What do you all think?

Today my friends finally rode w/ me, they have bald tires and they didn't wanna get near my mudlites, lol. We got into a soggy and muddy field and started our usual rooster tail sprayin your buddy war and I won as expected, haha. I pop the clutch into 2nd from stop and man I throw mud 30 ft in the air at least, they took a real beating but they will get over it. I know i was suposed to take pics but I've just been too lazy to get new batterys for it and take a pic....sometime soon :)

They are 22x11-9's, stock are 20x10-9's so I got 2inches more clearance, it's the wet snowy, rainy season so I thought I'd go all out for some good traction in the mud. I'm buyin some new ITP Baja rims that I'll put some stock sized RAZR 2 or WholeShot GNCC's on for the track or when it's dry in spring. These tires were a good deal new and are suprising light so I haven't lost any power, still pulls wheelies like a mother and I got a little extra top speed cuz I pull away from my friends Raptor 700R topped out, b-for we just stayed side by side.

Sorry I didn't see this before, but you'd have really liked the Knarlys.
I've had a pair on my 350X for the last 2 or so years and they are super. Dig great and don't ever pack.

Odd seeing swamper looking tires on a Raptor. Hope they work well for terrain other than mud. I'm sure they'll dig like no other though. ;)

LOL....it's weird seein the same quad w/ the same tires as me, wow. I really wanted the gnarlys but just went for the mudlites for some reason. And I got 2 extra inches of clearnace, I measured it, trust me. Plus my 4x10 ramps rubbed the bottom of my swinger plate in the truck, now they have 2 more inches clearance, so how anal of me to point out *Edited**Edited* mistake, j/k.
