Lookin good - hey Green - what sort of paint did you use? If I remember correctly you are in Oz - me too - and don't have access to alot of the paint brands/colours referred to on this site.

I have the same bike - 73 KO - and want to match the original colour - where did you get your fenders?

Cheers

Greenie lives 10min from me,i know John had a local custom paint shop do the frame and tank in 2pak,when you see this thing in person its amazing the pics dont do it justice but he can fill you in on the colour and bits etc.

It looks super - Im wondering whether the plastic was painted with the metal parts because I can't see a colour difference - thats the look I want too!

Have a look at what I mean - this was a one owner from new bike - but I never asked him whether he had replaced plastics before because the colour match is not right.

Everyone who has replied to this thread has a British or Austrailian accent...:w00t:

Lol...I would leave that 70 as is, and just re-do the seats and rear wheels/tires. That is a really nice trike.

I made fender moulds off NOS plastic fenders (red) and made these fenders out of fibreglass. The paint is Imron 2-Pak. I will find out the colour code for you. Its best to paint everything at once so there is no shade differences. With the original frame/fenders, changes happen over time with fading etc. Our severe sunlght wreaks havoc on paint and plastics. I am waiting on a NOS seat and a bit of time to finish off a few small jobs. I will post more images when its done. Thanks for the compliments, by the way.

It's so perfect that if it wasn't on the grass I'd think it was a TOY 70.

Really nice work. Can't wait to see the bloody thing with the wheels/tires on!

speaking of tyres, are you going to put ohtsu's on it?

greenhuman
12-21-2006, 03:30 AM
I have the original Ohtsu's. They are 99%. I also have brand new late mode ATC70 Ohtsu's with the built in side rib, but that would not be true to the model. I will see what happens.

A great before and after - what seat cover/seat did you use (Z50A?) - Were you lucky enough to source some grey cables too?

Really. really nice - I hope mine turns out as nice as yours - you did a magnificent job!

That's funny (but true) Mine has been done for over two years and has been riden less than 200 feet.

Greenhuman, did you get your fenders from Ric?

I have a set of Andrews fenders and they do look real nice. I have not started my resto on the 73 yet but they will look correct on it . Hopefully I will start that project in a couple of months have most of the stuff I need, NOS grey cabels, kill switch, optional headlight, tail light wiyh wiring harness, and stuff. I have been collecting parts for years now. I have had my 73 for almost 20yrs and its hard to believe that it was just used in the pits and to thrash around the yard with. Kids learned on it then I found out was more collectible than I thought so it has been moved to a corner for storage and a resto. Good luck with yours.
