i would think for the cost and design (i am a mechanical drafter so i do things like this) you could spend more in a frame then rebuilding a motor to be trick and fast.

I got a quote to make a frame for a 86 atc250r $2500, I haven't head back from the guy about it, though.

Newby... Are you OK?? Have you reread some of your latest posts?? You might want to lay off the drag racing aluminum framed 200X for a bit and learn some basics. No harm meant here, I just think you may be jumping ahead of yourself a bit but I do encourage your enthusiasm.

You aren't going to get too far drag racing a 200x, if your using the 200x motor. I'm just letting you know that, a fully modded out crazily light 200x, wont beat a modded 250r. Now if your putting a whole different motor in it, then just use the frame that the motor came out of.

smyers.... i don't mean to offend you.. but didn't curtis sparks have a "crazy fast 200x" that used to beat 250r's??? i think it was curtis sparks atleast.... but i do agree... dont' put alot of money into a aluminum frame... it really wouldn't be worth it... unless their was some strictly 200cc or below class... but still... NO!

I understand that someone with that much knowledge could make a 200x pretty damn fast, and maybe faster than a "stock" 250r, but that same person could take a 250r and make it EXTREMEMLY fast compaired to a 200x. No offense taken.

its ok. it may not make sense to you but has anyone gone this far with an 86 200x or any 200x for that matter? im asphalt draging they have classes at the drag strip in marion ohio or atleast did. i like to see how fast i cant get things to go using the original engine. im planing on making bigger better parts then are already made. im not offended by the comments i know what you guys are thinkin but i have nothing but time and money so why not? that and im tired of al my buddies tellin me they can beat the *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* out of my 200x with there quads so thats the other thing that is driving this project.

I can smoke your 200x with my quad, but instead of spending all that money on your 200X, just send a few bucks that you were going to spend on it my way, and Ill slow down at the strip, and I wont tell anybody.

Now that got a rise out of me  but I have to give 200x newby an A+ for thinking outside the box. I contacked 2 companies last week to build 250r trike frames out of aluminum, if I hear back from them I will give you their info and you can get a quote for yourself. I figure they are closed until after the holidays so I hope I hear back from them this week.

hey smyers.... yeah i 100% agree with you that a highly modded 250r would most definitely beat a highly modded 200x even with an aluminum frame.... but a highly modded 200x could probably beat a lightly modified 250r... which is why i keep my opionion of it not being worth it to put an aluminum frame on a 200x for drag purposes... your better off buying a 250r and working on it instead.... just my 2 cents...

If your looking at making a 200X fast on the drag strip, there are a DOZEN easier, and much much more effective ways to go about doing that than an aluminum frame. I definitely understand the concept of doing it "Because I can" (Thats why I'm still drag racing with a 500cc single instead of a banshee power plant like anyone else that is serious) But just my opinion and advice is, work on the other major power enhancers and most effective things first, and then work your way on down to the more difficult, and less effective ones.

Here is some serious advice for anybody considering racing anything, anywhere. Before you put one dime into equipment modifications, contact race officials where you intend to race, and find out the classes and rules. Many modifications will hurt you by forcing you to move into a more advanced class where you will be at a big disadvantage, even with your mods. One simple example was when guys starting putting 240 big bore kits in their Blasters, only to find out they could not run Blaster class, and had to run in open classes against the big dogs where they were badly humiliated.
