Ok since there are very few good condition seat pans at reasonable prices for the81-82 250R I have decided I am going to make one out of fibreglass. My question is should I put some small steel bars in it for strength or should I just use the fibreglass?? Has anybody tryed this before? Thanks, BOB

id say no bars, they might make pressure points and crack it.

use wire mesh (splinting material from a first aid supplier) aluminum, flexible and really tough.

Just get some Home Depot chicken wire or other readily available perforated metal. More importantly is how you reinforce the mounting points, thats where you'll need to be creative. Also, how are you gonna secure the seat cover to the thin fiberglass??

If it can be made out of fiberglass then it can also be made out of 24 gauge sheet metal, pounded, bent and mig welded into shape. Youll need a good donor to get it right. Maybe I'll start making them......

If a good original can be obtained, a mold would be easily doable. After that popping off copies is simple. Reinforcing is simple, just add a few extra layers of glass. Attaching a seat cover is just as simple. Use contact cement!
