Found this while searching for the episode of 20/20 from April 25, 1985 - the one that was so slanted against 3 wheelers.
Check out the little kid (with no helmet) eating dirt when he rolls over forward. They say he is not hurt, but man - he hits hard.
Anyway - has anyone seen that 20/20 clip in the past 15 years?????
I am still looking for it.

"two deaths in our family from atv's is not a freak accident" yea its dumb asses that dont know how to ride. dont you think after 1 of your relatives dies then common sense would tell you to not let your kids ride? and if you do let your kid ride put them on the appropriate sized atv for there age and riding skills. Man i was watching and just wanted to yell at about all the idiots on there. yea when the numbers of atv's increase, of course the number of accidents WILL increase. what about percentages though? they didnt say anything about that. you know how many deaths per 1000 atvs? i shouldnt have even watched it lol

One of the places I ride is in the video, there was talk that when the new crew was there, it couldn't have been good. Two in one family dying from an atv is pure stupidity, Mostly on the rider.

Well if you re-consider the situation, these were kids that were killed not adults. The parents and/or gaurdians that were allowing these kids to ride machines that were to big for them are just as guilty of involuntary man-slaughter as someone getting into a car crash and killing someone by accident, and then going to prison for it.
The U.S. had to learn the hard way on how dangerous cars were back in the '20 and '30 when it was nothing to see a child driving the car into town from the farm and getting into a crash cuz the child didnt know how to properly handle the vehicle. Same goes with ATV's, people still think they are toys, to people that understand them also see them as toys but we also understand that it is a machine and it has no feelings or remorse, it will chew you up and spit you out, and for that we respect our machines. Niave(sp) masses think that they are completely harmless and stable cuz people only LOOK at ATV's when they buy them new or used, then once on it they think the only way to ride it is with the throttle pinned open.

I have wanted to see that slanderous piece again for so long. I was just a kid when it aired on tv and felt both sad and mad about the whole thing. I also remember naming off all the different trikes during the segment. We need to find it. Off the topic a bit ATC WRENCH how does your t3 run compared to to your modded R. Just wondering:rolleyes:

Whole-heartidly agree! If you read one of the gravestones, one kid was only 11 years old!!!!! These parents think its cute to put their kids on these huge bikes. Then when one gets hurt they go after the manufactor? I dont like to use "hate," but I HATE people like this!!!!!!
Your kid stabs himself with a kitchen knife you dont go after the company!!!!!!

Seriosuly it's the paretns fault for having kids on the big bikes in the first place.. Look at that video of the kid flipping, that bike was huge!! He has no weightt o *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* so the bike will fly on its own. I've seen stupid people riding and I believe they get what they deserve, still death does suck, but they should know better. Bikes come with warnings for a REASON! Danger! DUH!

We are very careful when letting our grandkids ride with us on the utes. They always wear a helmet and we only ride slow and careful.
