I had cherry bombs on my old 84 blazer, 383 stroker, holley 850 double pump carb, straight pipes all the way w/ 36in bombs, sounded so mean.

I got V-10 in my new truck, I've been thinkin of cuttin the cats off and runnin straights w/ cherry bombs...wonder how it'd sound ?

I never liked the cackle. A set of free flowing mufflers with headers is a better sound.

i had one on my isuzu truck i had about 6 years ago. i gave it a deeper tone then the exhaust they put on the Honda cars and VW's

I think they sound cool on the right car, but they have no place behind an engine built with performance in mind.

what do you guys think about running straight pipes the whole way back?

On my old Chevy I ran a Y pipe (gay MO laws couldnt legally do duel) to a single 3" pipe connected to a 10" Glasspack. It dumped out right before the rear axle. Had a real nice throaty sound to it. Loved setting off car alarms!

I would have just done an illegal dual setup, but funds got in my way.

So what about vehicles that come with factory duals, or as an option??
Sounds goofy......

Thats the law. If it dosent come with factory duels, you cant legally have them put on. I think the law goes back about 20 years or somewhere around there. My 82 C-10 Chevy was just young enough to get caught by the stupid law. I had headers and everything ready to put on. Needed the exhaust and headwork, and never got around to hooking up my own system.

I sold the truck a ways back.

I think they suck! They sound to loud and not powerful, it's like a popping sound. I prefer flowmaster and magnaflows. Been using flowmasters for years, and on our race cars. Magnaflow has really gotten my attention for the sound and power, may be leaning toward them more. It's a deep low ruble at idle, when you mash the gas it's like a deep roar all the way through the rpm's. Glasspacks are simply tacky

Not a big fan of glasspacks either anymore. There is so many different mufflers that sound awesome without the raspyness and loudness of a glasspack.

They do sound good on some of the older cars and trucks but I wouldnt put one on my own rig.

I think the biggest thing here is a lot of us are talking about two completely different situations. If you have your catalytic converters still on then a glasspack usually sounds real nice but if the glasspack is the only thing then yes, they can be very annoying(or tacky, ).

I didnt have duel glasspacks, I was running an old C-10 pickup with a crate 350 and a high flow cat. Nothing performance. It sounded great.

Haha oh yea that's the sound I'm talking about. I loved the youngsters with the big body caprices and monte carlos with v8's that were nothing more then stock with an air filter maybe and ran STRAIGHT glasaspacks, all that noise and they went nowhere lol

For performance, like Rennat_2006 said there are many choices out there because glasspacks just don't cut it haha

Some people consider magnaflows to be a glasspack muffler. I do agree though, old school louvered glasspacks are tacky. Espescially on a modern vehicle. They lack the flow of a modern performance muffler and dont really muffle sh*t. They might be cool on a 60's style hotrod, but not much else.

Well I wouldn't say that. Without a doubt they out flow any normal muffler.

Straightpipes; unless your making some good HP with a nice cam they just don't give such an aggressive sound...

Not a fan of glass packs here either. Over the last few years, we've been using Dynomax and Dynatech.
Straight pipes sound horrible in my opinion, no matter what kind of hp you're making. That's just me though. I prefer to be quicker than the person next to me that has just straight pipes, and quieter while doing so :-)

with all the good exaust why would you run such junk they mess up your exaust waves and hurt performance you can get dynomax ultra flow bullits for like 35.00 bucks and are a much better muffler ;)
