HAHAHA! I put my Mustang on craigslist about 6 hours ago and have already got 3 responses(all scammers). I could tell, by the way they arent asking about any details, just in general. With three choices, I picked the first email. Lucky him, because little does he know, Im about to take him on a trip. Ive got PLENTY of time on my off days(Mon-Thurs), so me and Mr. IstillthinktheseAmericansdontknowaboutourgame are going to become good email buds until I drop the bomb on him. Since this thread will probally become fairly large, his text will be in red and mine will be in black. Without further adue, here is his first email.
Hello,
I am interested in this vehicle, pls do get back to me with your firm price if its still available. I just have these few questions left:
1.Can I trust you?
2.Whats the generalcondition of this item?
3. Can you make yourself available for the shipping company when they will come for the pick up?
Get back to me ASAP

Hi Mark, Ive got nothing to hide here. The cars condition overall is fair. Its got a good sound drivetrain, will clean up with minimal work, and is 100% complete. Where are you located? If you do ALL the shipping arrangements, I have no problem with a shipping company. Let me know.

I got a $15,000 check one time. Those people crack me up! I was only selling the car for $8000!
You should tell him that the car just burnt to the ground, or the wheels were stolen, or something else bad that would make any normal person walk away from the deal. I bet he keeps coming at you. You can make up some pretty weird crap about the condition, have fun!

Here's what I hate the most about craigs. There was a guy about 3 mins from my house selling both a Z50 and a 250R. As most of you know, I collect both... so I thought... wow, what a deal, kill 2 bird with one stone. I emailed him with my phone number only to send one back saying I'm a crook, going to part it out on ebay and to go F myself because I emailed him before about other stuff he had. I know I didn't because I never had contacted anyone so close to me. But anyway, long story short, I told him to call me in person and tell me to F myself... haven't heard from him since. Oh, and the price for both was $700. He had titles for both. Almost makes me believe he was scamming because those 2 alone are $700 each... or more, let alone having a title for a '71 Z50 which is almost unheard of now days.
But I see what you're saying, he's trying to get a car with a bad check, a moving company and whatever else he can dream up.

Thats too funny! I've never really sold anything on an auction type site so.. How did you now it was a scammer and what does he want besides to make you think he is interested in the car? Its probally a stupid question but I just don't know!

Well, if it was someone truly interested in the car, they would have asked more specific questions. Hows the transmission shift?, any rust?, any dents and dings?, ect...
Also, you can tell by how they word their questions.
Can you make yourself available for the shipping company when they will come for the pick up?
Can I make myself avaliable? Hmm, yeah, but its a pain in the ass to get me to do anything..but Ill try.
Go to www.bustedupcowgirl.com and after reading the posts there, youll get the 'jist' of their dialect.
On a side note...they havent contacted me back yet. :(
If I was trying to scam someone, Id be all over them trying to get the goods.

Hello,I am located in North Georgia,NG/USA and I am happy to know the condition of the item,I would have loved to pay with paypal but, i cant afford to be burnt twice, visit this site and you would understand better ( www.paypalsucks.com ) and i will like to offer you $250Cash for all this item and I would proceed with the paymentimmediately, and Incase you dont know how Usps Money order works, This is how it works, as soon as i make payment with USPS Money order, they will notify both of us that, i have made payment for some amount and they will have to pend it inorder to findout somethings about my payment. As soon as they approved my payment, they will also let you know that, my payment has been approved and a confirmation would be sent to you and also your money order would be mailed to you immediately, the money order would be get to your address in 3 to 5 business day, first class mail to confirm the delivery of your money order. I think its better and safe because, once they approved payment and you have been sent the confirmation, its for sure that the seller or whoever thats involved will definately receive the money order and thats why it takes them hours to approve after pending As for the shipping, you dont have to pay adime for it because i will be responsible for the shipping to destination. Upon confirmation of payment via email, i will send you a fed-ex prepaid shipping label to you which you will paste on the package before fedex comes for the pick up. I will like to read from you if this is okay by you. Let me have your full name and address so that i can proceed with the payment.
NB
Please dont forget to end the bid once My payment has been confirmed.thanks
NOTE:Kindly send me the pictures of the item so that my son can see it

Ok, here is what I just sent him. If he buys this, either he is a total moron, or just really greedy. Maybe both.
Hi Mark. It seems your client is very trusting to buy a vehicle sight unseen. For all he knows, it could be a Rambler station wagon or something from a junk yard. Dont get me wrong, my car is very nice. It has power locks and windows, but there was something in the trunk area that has left a stain. I did not mention it in the ad because I was afraid to turn off a potential buyer. It looks like dried blood. There is ALOT of it! Id hate to know what happened, but didnt ask any questions from the previous owner. He said he had some marriage problems and needed the money for a plane ticket out of the country. I didnt ask any questions. I just took the car and left.
Trust me, your client will love the car! Please let me know when he wants to arrange shipment and I will help anyway I can.

I thought Id get more of a response from him after telling him someone was butchered in the car! :wondering
He sent a reply the same as the last one, but added a sentence at the end.
Pls can u send me the pic so that l can forward it to my client immediately so that u can get u payment ASAP. My client has arranged for the shipping all you need to do is have it cashed from your bank and send the excess to the shipping agent that will come for the pick-up ok.
My reply:
Thanks for the reply Mark! Now that I think about it, someone who is willing to spend so much money on something theyve never seen is either crazy, or not real. Before I send my information, I need to know who I am dealing with here. Not that I dont believe you, but you cant trust anybody now-a-days with all the scams going on and whatnot. Please send me some kind of picture so I know that I am dealing with a real person. A picture of you holding up sign or something. Not just any old sign, a personalized sign. Make it say 'I like it in the rear'. After I have verification I am dealing with a real person, I will send my information so we can get this transaction completed. Thanks!!
-Jason

Im going to let him sit on it for a few days with no response, then Im going to tell him the car was bumped by a shopping cart at the grocery store, then send him a pic of a totalled Mustang. It might end the communication, but oh well.

Hey, everyone. I just got this in the mail:
FROM,THE DESK OF MR JOE MANOS
BILL AND EXCHANGE MANAGER
FOREIGN REMITTANCE DEPARTMENT
AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK,
OUAGADOUGOU,BURKINA FASO.
TEL.00226 78 83 79 61.
Dear Friend,
I am the manager bill and exchange of the foreign remittance department of African Development Bank, ouagadougou burkina faso, My dear I am trusting this deal to you buy faith and hope that you will handle it without know problem.
In my department file, I discovered an abandoned sum of US $12.6m (Twelve million, six hundred thousand US Dollars) in an account that belongs to one
of our foreign customer who died along with his wife and the only daughter in November 2, 1997 in a plane crash.
Since I got information about his death, I have been watching out for his next of kin to come over and claim this money because, the bank cannot release it
to any person unless somebody apply for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as it is indicated in our banking guidelines and laws, unfortunately,
I discovered that the only next of kin died alongside with him a plane crash being his only daughter left nobody or relation for claim.
It is therefore upon this discovery that I have decided to make this business proposal to you as a foreigner and for you to stand as the next of kin or a relation to deceased person for and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for the claim and
I don’t want this money to go into the banks treasury as unclaimed bill , the banking law and guideline ARTICLE A section ABD/O11 of 1991,stipulates that if such is found in our bank after five (10) years remain unclaimed the money will be
transferred into the bank treasury as unclaimed fund.
The request of a foreigner as next of kin in this business is occasioned by the fact that the customer is a foreigner, a Burkinabe and a Burkinabe cannot
stand as a next of kin to a foreigner.
I arrange that 30% of this money will be for you’re as foreigner partner in respect to the
provision of a foreign account, 10% will be set aside for expenses incurred during the business, handled by you, and 60% will be for me. Thereafter, I will visit
your country for disbursement according to the percentage as indicated. Therefore, to enable the immediate transfer of this money to your private account, you have to apply first to the bank as relation or next of kin to the deceased.
Upon receipt of your reply, I will send to you by fax or e-mail the text of the application, I will not fail
to bring to your notice that this transaction is hitch free and do not entertain any fear as all required arrangement has been made for the transfer.
You should contact me immediately you receive my letter through
my telephone or e-mail.
Trusting to hear from you.
