thats what ya need do do when your doing a compression check with a guage
hold the throttle open, with the guage in the head, and kick it till the needel doesn't climb any more,,do that and report back. I bet it will be higher.

probley wouldnt hurt to clean the airfilter and oil it, and clean the carb out by removeing the float bowl and spraying some carb cleaner, and blow it out with some air, If it hasnt been run in a wile. And check the oil! theres a screw on the clutch cover that you remove and fill it till it comes out of it,The screw is right behind the waterpump where the 2 hoses connect on the cover,It's all by itself.

i took the whole carb apart a;ready and blew out the jets with carb cleaner and compressed air. im thinking about putting a k&n in maybe even w/o the air box ( i wont see mud or water that deep) .

as for the oil what oil is beter then otthers and how much does it take if i change it .

if you do that get a outerware for the filter! k&n's will let in fine dust particals through unlike a oiled foam filter's, I recomend a outerware for any clamp on

I had 168psi on my Z when I bought it, I took it apart to check out the condition of the topend anyway, Good thing I did!!!! The piston had 2 big cracks and 2 smaller ones.

I rebuilt the topend and im now reading 195 psi ;)

All im saying is, you should probably just take the top end to give it a check over ;). 165 psi is fine for compression it will run strong. But its always good to check the topend condition to save from having a meltdown ;)
